Yup, looks like 06's that got undercoatin got a real mess underneath.
I had it on the block, tranny, exhaust, shocks, heatsheilds, sparetire, frame, etc.....
So after I pulled everything I preped the underside of the truck.
Lots of 3m pads, paint prep cleaner and taped the whole truck off.
Sprayed the whole underside of the truck low gloss black with high temp
paint. Took me days just to prep for paint.:argh: But she now has a proper
undercoating job that just touches the underside off the truck right to the
edge off the rails.
Aircaraft Remover will remove the undercoating but you have to BECAREFUL
WHERE YOU USE IT. DO NOT GET IT ON PAINT! IT WILL TAKE IT OFF.
But it worked great to pull the undercoating off the plastic wheel wells.
Just make sure to have water around to clean it off right away.
Also dont try and do it with them on the truck. Take um out then clean um.
Works good also on the heat sheilds.
It just seem like a better idea to finish the undercoating job the right way
instead of trying to remove it. Although it was a lot of work.
Here are some pics.
First ones off the before "MESS"
and after with new undercoat.
