I just won a low mileage 2004 SRT-10 on eBay:
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dodge-Ram-1500-/300755251302

This will be my first truck, replacing my previous daily driver, the sorely missed 2005 Cadillac CTS-V. I used to restore classic motorcycles, but my wrenching skills are way out of date, stuck in the era of points and carburetors. I would appreciate any pointers on checking it out before finalizing the purchase, and any suggestions on covering the bed for secure transportation and occasional storage of bulky valuables.

Nice truck. Not even broken in yet. Ya got a great deal. Congrats!
A nice tonneau cover would be good. Couple of things tho....remember the spoiler
if you go with a hard cover. I have a retractable one on mine. Didnt have to remount the
spoiler when I bought it.
Good luck.

Thanks to everyone for their kind words.

Are there any alternatives to tonneau covers for greater carrying capacity?

a couple of things....
check the torque on the crankshaft pulley bolt,on some 04s they have backed out and caused extensive damage. mine was loose i re torqued with blue loc-tite)
make sure clutch hose/line is secured up and away from exhaust (you can burn the fluid)

Congrats!

A truck with such low milage.... almost a shame to drive it :D
