We'll save you the story on how this particular embargo was broken, but we have confirmation from GM that they won't hold it against us if we post this information and the accompanying high-resolution gallery, especially considering the car is already on the cover of this month's issue of Winding Road (albeit badly photoshopped into a strange pinkish hue) and Automotive News just let 'er rip, as well.

That said, the Camaro Convertible Concept you see here will officially be unveiled Saturday night at a star-studded occassion called the GM Style Event where the automaker's product will share a runway with A-, B- and C-list celebs. The Camaro drop-top will be wearing this lovely Hugger Orange pearl tri-coat paint job to the show and sport a pair of dark gray racing stripes as striking accessories. No doubt when the convertible arrives in dealerships shortly after the debut of the coupe there will be more colors available in its closet.

GM says the car will have a V8, four-wheel disc brakes, a proper standard trannsmission, and a four-wheel independant suspension. Those wheels appear to be well over the 20-inch diameter mark, so you can likely expect smaller rims when the car goes on sale officially in a couple of years. Nearly everything else is identical to the coupe version of the concept including the interior, and GM unfortunately didn't release any pics with the top so we can't judge the new silhouette, but you can check out our full gallery of 24 high-resolution images by clicking here and tell us what you think in the comments.

2008 as an '08 model.

The 300 and Magnum will also see some updates in 2008.

See that's funny because I like the interior but don't care for the Chesire Cat grin that the grill represents!!:)
I don't remember laughing?:dontknow:

:p :D

Not one to really voice my opinion too much on something I have not seen in person.... Pics never do them justice....case in point...I never liked the CE SRT10....till I had the chance to see one in person...then loved it.
But I will give it a "shot"
I do like the center console layout with instrument cluster... but I am not a big fan of the speedo and tach layout... that's just me.
Engine bay/motor looks awesome....
Frone stance looks a bit "too happy" for me and would have preferred a bit more aggressive look from the grill...love the hood.
Trick fuel door location, and the rear of the car looks great...although it would be interesting to see how much trunk clearance you have with the deck open... may be bigger in person:dontknow:
Car has a nice stance, and I bet handles great.
Not sure about the Orange on a Chevy Camaro... but...what the hell.
Interesting to note the retro "redline" being incorporated into the rim...instead of the tire... nice touch

All in all the car should be a looker....and should prove to be a fun ride for the folks out there... congrats on the unveiling, and thanks for the pics/ link.:burnout:

I like the looks, steering wheel has to go though, seriously. That can not be the production wheel, where is the airbag? The gear shift, while it looks cool, will not work. Imagine a hot day and sweaty hands.....

As for the comments of the interior looking cheap to you, well, not that I want to point out the obvious, but we sure have a LOT of plastic in ours.

Good news for our UK brethren:

On the eve of GM's debut of the Camaro convertible, What Car? is reporting that both the iconic coupe and drop top variant will find their way to our friends in the UK.

According to the magazine's sources, both Camaros will be offered in right-hand drive and will recieve the LS2 6-liter 400HP V8, producing around 400 BHP. Sales will begin about the same time as us Yanks get our paws on the GM pony car, sometime in 2009, and will carry a price tag of around £30,000.

Since Holden has a lot to do with the new Camaro, I wonder if our brethren downunder will also see the Camaro...

I said this before and will again I have been a GM guy many years and if thats the best they can do ,,,,,,,,Challenger here I come . Now if they even came close to building this one I might thunk about it ,67 Real Camaro(well body is ) custom coil over with rack on the front 396 SBC 640hp ,Viper 6 sp ,9" with 3:73 on fiberglass monos . Was done on a roto undercoating floor inside and out with insulation every where ,custom dash and gauges, a/c, 18"s with big Baer brakes . Now this is a real Camaro <VBG>
Have A Kind Day

I've also been a Gm guy for many years and I think that chevy could have done a better job on the overall design. I have a 69 that is currently under construction ( not sure if I've posted pics or not) so this car does not impress me. I am at work right now so I cannot post pics of my car but here are some of the details. 540 C.I (haven't dynoed yet but estimated over 700 hp)+ 250 shot of N2o, ford 9 inch, 6 speed tremec, powder coated frame, Wilwood front disk brakes and much more. I am currently rewiring the entire car with Painless wiring, and all I have to say is they lied this is a pain in the ass.!!!
