Whats the best chip to get for my 05' QC? I would love to start doing things to the truck. Just not that engine "knowledgeable".

probably right now id buy the sct tuner from sean roe or dc performance. they are the only ones id trust with the tunes. others may feel different but thats my opinion.

Depends on what you ultimately want. The SCT offers almost unlimited tuning ability, but it cost more up front.Or you can buy a Stage 2 flashedcomputer (or have your own flashed) if you aren't looking to spend lots of time at the dyno or playing with different tunes .They are coming up for sale quite often now ( I just sold mine ) and they come on a new computer/controller so you can keep your stocker for warranty purposes ;) They are selling between $250 - $350 plus getting your VIN programmed into it ( $130 B&G,$200 DC Performance)

I paid around $800 ( Stage 2 flash on a new computer)when I bought mine back in Jan 06.I THINK the SCT is around $600 ? :dontknow: and they have two or three "tunes" in one unit.

I am SURE that you will get many opinions :D BUT,it all depends on what you ultimately want.If you decide that now,it will save you buying stuff that you can't use later.

what he said i did the same thing(stage2) a couple of years ago then went with the roe and had to sell it and get the vec 3. dont get me wrong the stage 2 was the sh*t for a qc. roe is tuning with the sct now too.

SCT Tuner seems to be the least expensive and most effective.

I don't think it the least expensive considering all the used computers with Stage 2 flashes being sold fairly cheap. It is the most versatile, though IF you plan on changing things often and spending time at the dyno.

As to most effective..............read the thread started by coloradokid ;)

marty @ krc performance is the sct tune man !!! he's very helpful & knowledgeable & friendly.......

marty is da man !!!!

:dito: .....and they answer emails, PMs and the phone right then or within a reasonable time...everytime..

Sounds good. Dont really know about tuning or anything. So, if I put something in there, I wouldnt mess with it.

If I were you ,I would look for a used computer with a Stage 2 flash on it.
It is good on a Reg cab and way better on the Quad cab.

If you find a really good deal on a SCT,it may be just a little higher. And with the SCT you don't have to remove the stock computer. For the Stage 2 ,you either have to buy the program and have it installed on your computer or buy a new computer and have it flashed(unless you can find a used one for sale and then just have your VIN programmed into it)

What mods do you need to consider the stage 2 flash? Is Intake and Cat-back exhaust considered stage 2.

Stage II is its own mod. I wouuld look to pick up a used one and have your VIN flashed in. It is compatable with all the bolt-ons and is a bullet-proof mod. Great for those using trucks as a DD or if you want to swap them out and put in the stocker for warranty work or towing. With the Stage II as you add bolt ons the computer works out its A/F ratio and adjusts itself.

SCT & VEC are piggy back systems...they will get you great results to and are great for tuning. As you add boltons you can continually tune your truck for optimal results.

Me, on my QC I wouldn't want to deal with all this because its my daily driver.
