Chirping noise. 98 GMC 5.3

Thought it was tensioner, it wasn't removed all belts it still chirps (LOUD). Remove Harmonic balancer still chirps. If I put my stethiscope to any piece of metal on the engine i hear the chirp.

I thought maybe these have a tensioner on the chain and that my be chirping, but they don't.

If you come off Idle slightly it goes completely away. That tells me it shouldn't be mechanical. I sprayed wd-40 around the intake and brake booster to see if it could be a vacum leak. It was not.

I sprayed water on the driver side exhaust manifold and it went away once. But if I tried again it didnt do anything.

I think its a exhaust problem either a hager, donut or manifold gasket.

The sound is at a pitch were if your standing at the front it sounds like its a the front, the left it sounds like its coming from there and so on............

Well if it's a 98' it has to be a 5.0 or 5.7 vortec;) I had a 96' with a whipple charger for almost 6 years:D The idler pulleys are bad make noise on those:(
 
My 10 chirps too! It's the 1-2 shift at WOT!! :D:D:D

Doesn't the tensioner spring like to make noise on those a lot too!?!
