sent our my shifter and shifter boot ring to get chromed. l:D ove it, looks great BUT installing the ring back on the console i jacked up 3 of the 6 speed nuts. AW man that sucks! it all started out by installing 5 of the 6 bolts the 6th bolt would not go in. :dontknow: so i take the boot ring off again put the 6 bolt in the speed nut works great.:dontknow: so i start with that bolt and still dont thread in. :dontknow:  so i then think maybe i just need to tighten the rest of the bolts down to get it to reach...... wrong thought as you will soon find out. so i get the 5 bolts in and still that 6th bolt will not screw in so i go once more around to tighten the bolts a little more. that is when i jack 3 of the screws up they just spun in the plastic of the concsole.
Dam i will be ordering a new console soon.

the moral of the story: the chrome looks good.:D

Patrick, that does look really nice. There's got to be a way to fix the fasteners without buying a new console though...drink a couple of beers, you'll figure it out...there's got to be a way to do some inserts or something, no?

After doing my shifter reviews I dealt with the exact same thing...they would 'POP' when you go 1/3 way down...almost feels cross-threaded. I picked up new clips and it fixed it. PM dragon....he can set you up with clips :D :D

Just take the ball off, leave the boot on...pull slide the center console off the shifter. Hold the clips with some pliers, get them tight, and slide the console with the boot over the shifter handle :) ?

I had problems with mine too. Ended up taking the whole console out over the stick (removed ball). Got rid of all the blind nuts and replaced with 1/4 X 20 nuts. The bolts may need cleaning up a little. Everything is nice and tight. No more rattles.
