This being my first post, I'm not sure where it might end up so pls excuse me.After reading the posts about the clay bar I was curious so I went and found the Mothers Kit . Started on the truck at 0730 this am and just finished. Whew! 13 hrs later and approx 16-20 brewskis later I have to admit that once I got the hang of things we had progress. The end result was way more than I expected, (the effort was too) But all in all I think just by the slick feel I've probably shaved .02 off the quarter and might have increased trap speeds by 1-2 mph. Thx for posting about this. I was gonna say something about rubbin' one out but figured things would get really bad really fast. thx again paulrf carbondale , il. .06 Bod 01/24/06 . And yes after this I think this red is fastest boe stock till warranty runs out.

Welcome aboard and yes, clay bar works really well..

Welcome Paul,

This is a dangerous place! :alberteinstein:

Thx for the support. been on her for about 5-6 mos but really had nothing to say 'cause mines an '06 and I have to wait for warranty to run out. Already asked if I bought there parts and had them install if the would still honor the warranty. NO!. Can't wait to see JMB and Boomer as I am smack in the middle I think

i'll do yours if you do mine ;) ;) :D :D :p  i can honestly say that when
i get the truck repainted i will start to care about the paint job... when i
bought the truck the weather was cloudy and drizzling.. the idiots wanted
to "wash" the truck and let me take it.. i figure it wouldn't hurt.. always nice
to have a clean truck.. well, twenty minuites later they bring it back out
(keep in mind this is after i signed all the papers and handed them the check)
and on closer inspection i see small scratches all over my truck!!! i asked them
how they washed my truck... they said they used cotton towels and "Wiped it down"
I just looked at them and couldn't believe it... i've tried so hard to get the
scratches to go away.. all kinds of polish compounds etc etc... nothing..

I know your pain!! I got over the scratches thing more than a year ago!! I was anal about it!! I finally realized, it wasn't worth the stress to have a spotless, scratchless truck!!;)

I put all that emotion into figuring out how to get traction now!!:D

Ok, first... sorry about the idjits at the stealership scratchin' up your new whip!

Second... get the Zaino starter kit, and follow the directions!

Start with a wash with Dawn to remove all of the old wax. Then the Clay bar, and finish with (several it sounds like) coats of the Z-5 and Z-2 with Z-6 in between! Whew! Not sure if I got the product names right, but you will know when you get the package and read the instructions.

Believe me, it sounds a lot worse than it actually is. The Z-5 and Z-2 go on so easy, and come off like you were just "wiping it down". Absolutely no rubbing, buffing or heavy polishing even.

The end results will knock your socks off!! You will be amazed at how many of the fine scratches will disappear. Especially since most of them are probably in the old wax, or clear coat anyway.

Give it a try, you will love it!!!

MY KIT IS STILL IN THE BOX SITTING IN THE GARAGE.I GUESS I NEED TO GET OFF MY JELLY ASS AND GET ER DONE!! SOUNDS LIKE THE RESULTS WILL BE WORTH THE EFFORT!!

It sure will. Zaino is the only stuff I use.

But worth every beer and every minute!!

You won't believe the "soft" feel that the finish has when you are done! Smooth like silk!!
