I took some advice given, and bought the Mothers Clay bar Kit. Where have you been all my life! My wife set the sprinkler up to close to my truck on a windy day. Im 2 minutes from the ocean, and the salt air and poor water quality made monster water spots on my paint and glass. I clayed the whole truck thoroughly

and then put a foam pad on my 10 inch buffer. and gently applied meguires scratch x, till it diminished. It made a mirror finish removing all micro scratches and polished my headlights and tailights new again.

Then two coats of the meguires Tech wax, applied with clean foam pad on 10" buffer and removed with microfiber on the same buffer.

The finish is unbelievable. It looks new again. As for the spots on the glass. A fresh clay bar did the trick on every window in less than 5 minutes total making it crystal clear again. Sorry, i got no pics yet but i do have a fever to polish these wheels....
I will be removing the wheels to clean the minor oxidization on the inside, but i wash it weekly already.
Any tips that will prevent me from removing the clear coat and causing more pain? Im thinking about this product

Thats a lot of work. I love the tech wax and so far I have never used a better wax. Great work.

Sounds great! I have a bottle of the Scratch-X I've been itching to try out. I've used the Tech Wax 2.0 before and liked it.... also like Medallion, but you can't get it anymore. I've since switched back to my old favorite, Meguiars Professional #26 High Tech Yellow Wax. You really can't beat it.

the mothers clay bar kit is a must have in every garage works wonders on cars that get driven daily for road grim

I'm a little skeptical, could you try that on my truck, so I can see the results first hand?:dontknow:

I picked up the meguires chrome polish for the exhaust and was quite pleased as well

Is your buffer a random orbital? I've got a bottle of Scratch-X also. I tried it by hand with NO luck at all. Luckily, I only tried a test portion. My entire tonneau has hard water spots on it. Even after a good wash/clay/wax/polish.

Oh, and on the the glass, I use Stoner's invisible glass and a grade #0000 steel wool, followed with the business section (stock quote) of the newspaper.

I only use Zaino on my vehicles. Clay Magic Clay bar once a year.
Never use a sponge or wash mit when washing Dirt and grime gets trapped in the mit or sponge and then you scratch the finish.
Get a Boars Hair brush from Groits Garage to use for washing

I once bought a bottle of Scratch X to remove a tiny little scratch on the tank of my R1. I babied the hell out of that bike so that scratch was pissing me off. The day after I bought the Scratch X, I wrecked the bike. I never even got to use the X. Then I got the 10 and noticed some minor scratches on the front bumper. I used the X with a small pad and it worked great. Maybe if I buy enough tubes of it and pour them all on the bike, it will look great too.

That is sad, and funny at the same time.

Man no one was more skeptical than me. i tried everything to get the spots off including white distilled vinegar followed by rubbing compound. The clay bar glossed the paint and polished the glass like it was fucking new!

The Scratch X is pretty effective with a microfiber, applied liberally to a small location, then buffed till it disappears. But the random orbital buffer with a foam pad was unbelievable as a polish. I think they call scratch x a diminishing abrasive. It goes on like 2500 grit and gets finer and finer till it wipes off.

My last question may have gotten overlooked. Any tips on polishing the wheels without removing the clear coat?

I treat the wheels like any painted surface since they're clearcoated. I claybar, and wax the wheels. My only problem is that my wheel cleaner of choice probably strips the wax off. I think I'm going to discontinue using a bonified wheel cleaner, and just wash them with carwash soap/water.

I do have a bottle of Turtle Wax All Metal Polish, and it states it's safe for clear-coat wheels. You obviously won't get the black residue associated with raw metal when you "polish" clearcoated wheels. I'm still skeptical about using it. . .
