Cleaning a Volant intake filter

Just installed the Volant intake that Wes (walbert) gave me. The filter is pretty dirty. What is the recommended method for cleaning the filter? It didn't come with instructions, so I dont want to screw it up.

Go down to the parts store and get you a K&N Filter cleaning kit. It comes with cleaner and oil. (They are all the damned same anyway, just different colored oils )
