Clearcoating the Powdercoating

OK I'm finally making progress on tearing apart the truck and finding a reputable sand blaster.

Need help taking off the vavle covers. For some reason i cant get the wire loom clips off the valve cover bolts. Any ideas?? I totally feel like a lame ass asking.

Other than that sandblasting Tues or Wed next week. Then off to the powdercoater.

Question regarding clearcoating. Need answers as to the best clear coat to use for the intake manifold, valve covers, calipers and wheels.

I will be adding some stickers and paint ontop of the powdercoat before clearcoating.

So dealing with temp as well as visual glossiness. Hopefully something that will last a long time.

Grab 'em with a pair of needlenose pliers and yank the piss out of 'em. Oh Yeah, Send that shit to Justin at JMB Performance, it might cost you a fraction more money but it will be well worth it!!

I was talking to one of the paint guys at my dealer's body shop and he advised against clearcoating the valve covers......he said eventially the heat would cause bubbles in the clearcoat...:dontknow:

I wish i could send to JMB. But did some trade with a guy in town.

So he is going to powdercoat. He uses metal for his blasting so can't use him to blast the aluminum intake, valve covers or wheels. So i have someone else doing that.

I wont be able to use the clear coat powdercoat. Too exspensive for my guy to purchase.

SO looking into a high temp clear coat????

Any painters know of anything?

Trust me you would be better off sending them to Justin. He has done 2 sets of valve covers for me and the grille for my son's Duster. You will not find any one easier to deal with. His work is the best!

well heres my thoughts on that .... if you can let a car sit in a parking lot all day at 100 plus temps and the paint gets very hott..... black cars are crazy hot then your valve covers should be fine if you clear them... min are cleared and so will my intake
