They say that clutches require a break in period to prevent a hard glaze from forming on the disc...... Someone correct me if I'm wrong......

But, I have had both good bite and good wear by practicing "Django's general rule" for automotive operation: Drive it like ya stole it.

I think where people make a mistake, Is they do hwy. miles for break in. It needs to be city, Or stop sign driving. Just my opinion. Hope this helps.
How many miles on your stock one. Forgot to mention mine is at the dealer with some oil leaks,And getting new clutch installed. 34,000 on mine.

Notahemi,

Just the fact that you got a dealer to install a new one under warranty is a miracle. They find out you are racing and your done!!! Break in has gotta be city type driving. I would NOT race until I had at least 500 miles on her. But WTF do I know..............cept that the Centerforce upgrade is $2k!!! Dont push you luck, wait and race after you get your miles done............and never slip that clutch......it'll burn like a white boy greased up on a beach in July!!! Dont go there!

The clutch repacement is not warrenty. They had to drop the tranny to fix rear main seal, So i opted for a new clutch, And slave. I run the piss out of her,So i figure 34,000 mi. I'll try stock again. ( $ 1,000 )

with only 4800 miles on the truck , the slave went, and i think that had somthing to do with them replacing the clutch, drove alot to nite should have about 400 on by tommarow , think im going to go ahead and race, will mostlikly do centerforce any way after winter, i have to put the truck away after this week end so what the hell ill have fun will i can :burnout:

You should take the existing clutch hydraulics system, tear it out and throw it into the fkn trash can......It's garbage...

Replace it with the hydraulics system from the Viper GTS coupe... Call Boomer to purchase and any reputable Viper shop to install..... It requires a little shimming but that's it.....

Yeah, I would break in the clutch properly so it seats. Also replace the hydraulics...it makes a world of difference :)

i beg to differ....... i took my truck in for the clutch slave cylinder noise @ 5k miles & they volunteered to replace the clutch/pressure plate/throwout bearing/slave cylinder & resurface the flywheel all under warrantee...... the service rep said that the flywheel showed alot of excess heat spots & i said really ?? :D

Randy, clutch warranty is 12 months/ 12k miles. He was responding to my comment about the other guy (notahemi) getting a warranty replacement. Lame POS dealer here would not replace mine because they said they saw me racing! Hence my miracle comments! I whole bunch of us 04 guys had clutch issues with dodge sometimes fixing them, many times though not.
