Hey Guys,

Have a question for those of you that are machanicially inclined...
When I engage my clutch....there is this sound that it makes everytime
that sounds like...when you walk on waxed floor with tennis shoes on...
if that makes sense...:dontknow: anyway it happens until sometimes
the truck gets warm/hot....have talked with dlrship and they of course
could not get it to duplicate the sound....I told them that it does it when
it is cold/cool...any suggestions  ...also...about a week ago..
on my way to work one morning...I was playing with a vette...01-03...
was on kinda hard...we had little to no traffic....then ran up on some
really quick...had to break her down hard....resumed normal driving and
then I notice what smelled like burnt clutch....smell disapated...but man
did it stink....is there concern in this area...truck is an 04 with 18k on it.
Any diagnosis that can pinpoint the problem or there is nothing to worry
about? Thanks :driver:

Tony

A little clutch chatter when its cold is normal. Smelling burnt clutch under heavy accelleration is not :( . Would bet that your clutch is starting to go. You could also see if your rear main seal is leaking. It could be the cause of your clutch slipping and mayu attribute to some cold start chatter.

It might be a good time to talk to Roe Racing or X-Metal for a Centerforce / Viper Master/Slave upgrade kit :D

we have the complete package in stock, including billet flywheel!

what is the pressure on the clucth pedal like ? normal, better, woarse ? then when you got it ?

As far as burning clucth smell.. I do that all the time in my vette lol sure you are eating your clucth up, but the in regards to the smell it will linger for a long time even with the windows rolled down :)

however like others have said the chit/chatter is not good.. does she shift into gear easy ?

I hear pro's and cons of a light flywheel. With the mass of our trucks, we should keep the OEM. Thoughts?

I asked Sean Roe about this too. He said he has had NO negative reports on the lighter mass of the Fidanza flywheel. Nothing but improved performance.

Coin toss for sure.... going to boil down to your take on it. I believe we have members going both routes.....and I have not heard of any problems with the OEM or the Fidanza with the rest of the clutch mod.:D

You have 18k on a stock clutch? Count yourself lucky! Most of us lost her way way sooner! I had 3k!

Hard launches kill em everytime! A new centerforce kit etc.. setup will feel like a monster improvement in power to the wheels.

FYI.....that stink smell is the smell of your wallet being forced open!! I hate that smell!!! LOL

i was the test mule for a billet flywheel in the trucks back in '04, its been in the truck ever since, and i love it. we keep them in stock at all times and we install one in every job we do be it a Viper or the truck

I will be doing a side by side comparison of Centerforce VS ACT very shortly

Look in our Review Section for details....
