I have a 04 rc, was out last night with my girl. Just playing around a little with people. Started to smell the clutch bad, I never launch hard or go hog-wild through the gears. The truck has 43xxx on it now and wanted to know how long factory oem clutchs last, I want to get a new one. Any good brands you can help me out with.

I'd buy a spare to have handy ;) :D Ur bout done with that one Bro :burnout:

I got 44,000 out of my first stocker abusing the crap out of it. My second clutch is a stocker with Viper hydraulics have about 5,000 on it so far with track time on slicks, no problems.

i'm still on my stock clutch.....but only 11,000 miles. the previous driver might have been a little (or a lot) rough on it. JMB and ROE RACING (both vendors here) have the centerforce clutch and upgraded viper hydraulics kit.

I only got about 8 or 10 thousand on my stocker

The centerforce is an excellent replacement.I have about 16,000 miles ( a lot of abuse on it,too) on this one and it needs replacing badly.I have a new one (bought from a member here  ), I just need to get it installed ...............SOON.

my stocker lasted 3k miles.......

i went with the following because i drag race @ PIR & it's held up well (13k miles & still going):

if you're not a drag racer & don't want an oem clutch ($1060.00):

&

with the amount of miles on your truck, you may also want to replace the pilot bushing too:

:)

Over 30 k on mine tons of racin, and hard launch'es, burnouts...:burnout: no slipin yet..............good info from the fellas...... :congrats:

Sent you a pm bro.

If you got 43k on your stocker count yourself as lucky. If you did a poll you would find most stockers give out way way sooner. Time for the upgrade. JMB or Roe racing are the experts IMO.

Depends on how you drive, you can burn a stocker out in 1 day....

I have tried like the Centerforce and ACT.. both great clutches.

Mine when out with 1400 miles on my truck... (might have been something to do with all those track trips though lol)

My oem lasted 8k...have had two Centerforce clutches since both really good.

The Viper master and slave are mandatory to avoid shifting problems.

Welcome to the site.

I saw one guy here had 80,xxxx on a stocker, forget who it was. I just drummed my truck into DD duty and so far with just over 6K on the odo, no problems at all. However, for me and when it comes time to replace it, Viper Hyd and an OEM cluth/pressure plate. Cluth longetivity mostly depnds on your driving style. A piece of advice: don't slip it, the OEM clutch doesn't "like that".

Can we do a clutch poll? My truck only has 10k and it's babied to death. The clutch works great with only some past slight problems with the slave. I did get it bleed and it works like new now so all is well.
Maybe the poll needs to be for who races and who babies? What do you guys think?

Well it's weird cause now my clutch does not smell and has good petal pressure. Only thing I can think of is that I unhooked the battery to reset the computer " truck came from AZ" and that one night was the only problem I have ever had. I don't run at the track around here just play on the street a little bit with folk's. I was on roe's website looking at the south bend clutch ?? good or bad.

Drive it at 50 in fifth gear. Stomp on it.

If the engine revs but the truck lags...the clutch is in trouble...

If you are FI be very careful doing this...

My Stage 3 Southbend Clutch was the best upgrade on mine before some rods exited stage right........
