heh everybody, the bigun here with a question about my clutch!!!! yesterday my friend wanted to have a ride so i tried to do a burnout but it seemed like the clutch was slipping!!!!! it lugged the motor down and then took off without spinning the tires!!!! when i banged 2nd gear it did the same thing!!!! so at the next light, i ran her up to about 3grand and dumped it and it barely turned the tires over!!!! i did catch alittle rubber when i banged 2nd but not like 500 ponies should do!!! i could really smell the clutch (i think! it smelled like burning brakes) after i stopped!!!! my question is shouldn't a clutch last more that 20K miles?????? i am the 2nd owner so i don't know how the previous owner drove it but i don't gear-head it!!! could it be something else???? i called the dealer because it still has warrenty on it but they gave me the old standby answer that they would have to look at it!!!!

my next question is how much does a centerforce or equivalent clutch gonna cost me to have installed?????

any help guys would be appreiciated!!!!!!:dontknow:

I GOT 43 + MILES AND MY CLUTCH IS GOOD. KNOCK ON WOOD. JUST GO FOR THE UPGRADE.

Get the centerforce clutch with viper master and slave.KEEP your stock flywheel !!!!!!!!! The fidanza is too light !!!!!!!!!!!! I put a stock flywheel back in and my truck is WAY better now !!!!!

thanks all for the good advice!!!!! i was wondering about how much bread i'm gonna have to come up with for this upgrade?????? i didn't see any prices in the "install" post!!!!
great site and try to keep the rubber side down at all times!!!:star:

I think it will be around $800-$1,000 for the centerforce clutch and viper master/slave.$30 to re-surface old flywheel or $140 for new one.I recommend staying away from the fidanza flywheel. I paid $1,500 for the centerforce, fidanza, viper master/slave kit with the shims needed.YOU MUST USE THE SHIMS ON THE SLAVE !!!!!!!!!!!!! The master cylinder shim is optional , depending on what height you want the clutch pedal. Some have used just the centerforce without the upgraded hydraulics, but I wouldn't recommend that. Some of those trying this method have had failures. The new master / slave along with the centerforce clutch is money well spent !!

Ditto.........Recently some guys have had problems with the Fidanza flywheel but to be fair, there are hundreds of us who have not. If I were to do it again, maybe I would save ther $500 and stick with the stock one.

BTW, my clutch burned up at 3k miles......you got 20k!!! Your doing good as the stock clutch is a huge pile of crap!

My dealer did my install for $400.

I did my first clutch at 700 miles..... Next clutch 300 miles later.....

At 1300 I did another clutch flywheel and tranny...... The dealer would never get an admission from Dodge that they did a shoddy piece of work when they engineered the clutch hydraulics....

Once I installed the Viper coupe clutch hydraulics (about 500 bucks unless you call Hennessey... then double the price..... larcenous POS that he is) and DC performance sheilded and rerouted my clutchlines etc... I haven't had a problem since....

After 3 OEM clutches (et al) and an RPS (POS) clutch and flywheel down the tubes...I've gone back to the OEM clutch and flywheel....

I don't make big power like some of these guys... But I find the OEM clutch package to be just fine....

Get the hydraulics done........ You'll be home free....
