I dropped the CE at the local dealer for an oil change and to have a clutch pedal looked at. The clutch has been squeaking like crazy and driving me nuts, but I figured it was the linkage and not the clutch.

My service advisor told me that the throw out bearing and the pressure plate were shot and that they were going to replace everything under warranty. I have 1528 miles on the truck as of today. I knew I was going to be hard on a clutch, but not that hard.

I may just upgrade it now and be done with it. It'll take me months to put another 500 miles on it and I don't want to have to do that for a third time. :dontknow:

Well I guess I was lucky, my clutch went out at 3k miles.

Definatly ungrade to the viper master and slave for sure. Whatever you end up doing the labor is about $400 for whatever you get installed.

These stock clutch's cant handle any slippage or hard launches. The centerforce upgrade is really a huge upgrade. You really feel so much more power to the wheels.

Whitey is at the shop right now getting a new clutch as we speak and I have about 2500 miles on her. I had the same squeak and the clutch was letting out all the way up at the top. The service advisor told me he wouldn't charge me any labor if I wanted to upgrade the clutch, so I took him up on his offer. I should get her back tomorrow!

I have 16,000 miles and am still running the stock clutch. I will upgrade when this one goes, but for now the stock one is fine.

My service advisor said no way in hell they would let me upgrade the clutch. They said factory clutch, or I have to pay for the install.:(

Well the complete kit bro is around $1500 that includes the master cylinder, slave cylinder, flywheel, pressure plate and disc.
And its not that hard of an install as it sounds.

For now as long as you dont have to pay anything let them do it.

Then later if ya have problems do the upgrade, who knows by then we may even have another clutch to source:D

I can get a custom dual disc McCleod, but its for big number 6 spds, and its $2600:p

Just thought of something else, try to get them to change the clutch fluid which is actually brake fluid, if ya can get some Motul 600 it works best for the $. Most motorcycle shops shold have it, if not you can source it from Jegs, or Summit or one of our vendors.

The problem is the stock fluid breaks down easy, its boiling point is too low.

Even if you have to pay for this part it will be worth it

Well, since I've had as many clutch issues as anyone, I will chime in.....

Many of you are aware that my clutch probs were so bad that I had a pending lawsuit against Chrysler....

First clutch 700 miles.....Second clutch, new flywheel and new tranny at 1000 miles.... 3rd clutch at 1500 miles.... bla bla bla.....

The clutch hydraulics upgrade (new slave and master etc) and the rerouting of the clutchlines with Motul 600 solved ALL the problems...... OK. so I was a moron and allowed John fkn Hennessey to gouge me double the price.... Sue me, I didn't know....

But I've kept the stock clutch assembly for 10,000 miles and God knows how many "smoke 'em ups" without one lick of problems.... It is still going strong... So for my money, the stock clutch disc and flywheel are fine...

But upgrade your clutch hydraulics system, do the Motul and reroute the lines away from any heat source..... It'lll work like a dream after that.....

I'm not making big power like some of you guys.......about 600 at the tire... But my stock clutch/flywheel are more than enough for my ponies....

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.....

same problem mine is at the dealers right now , they called and told me it needed a new slave , think i get it back monday, hust my luck it is going to be nice on saturday, and this was going to be one of the last trips to the dragstrip and i dont even have my truck, mine had 4800miles on it

Yeah...many of us have had some clutch issues.... mine was shot at 7400, then I did the upgrade...love it. Slippage is no good for sure.... no matter which set up your running IMHO. Did get me some decent 60's... but not worth it in the long run.:burnout:
At least the dealer is taking care of ya.
