Was at Portland Int. Raceway sat. night. After 4 hot laps the tranny was hard to get into gear. A friend said I should get a slipper clutch. Has anyone tried one?Do make one to our trucks? Well they work for daily driving? Alot of questions I know but I havn't installed the centerforce clutch yet and wanted to know witch clutch to install.

Well first of all there is no slipper clutch for this truck.........you can slip any of them but you will get the same results..............up in smoke!!!

Buy the centerforce, findanza, viper master slave upgrade from JMB, or Boomer or Roe Racing. This is the clutch that works. You have to upgrade to the viper master slave for it to work properly. Cost is about $1500 or so.

I would try and stay away with hot lapping with the stock clutch and it should last a while or if you go with the Centerforce clutch I would recommend changing to the Viper master slave cylinder cause the stock plastic one is pos.

I didn't ask the question right. My friend call the clutch a slipper or lock-up clutch. Said it would slip on launch then lock up. Said it improve 60' times.I haven't installed the catback yet. Best time was 13.63 @104.9 mph.

Still have never heard of a clutch like that. Stock clutch will burn like a piece of toast if you slip it. Mine was done by 3k miles with just a few runs with slipping it.

Eventually all RC's will have to replace the clutch......period!!! Start saving now...........and the good part is your truck will feel way stronger with a clutch that can transfer the power.

The goal at the track is to get all of the power to the asphalt all of the time. Your friend does not understand the nature of this vehicle...while it can make lots of power we all struggle with getting the power translated into low et's.

A slipping clutch is like a missing engine why would you want that? Go with the Centerforce/Fidanza/Viper slave and master...it is proven to work and overcome the shortcomings of the oem system.

Then you can start to deal with traction...get all the power to the rear wheels, then find a way to make those wheels and tires stick...

For those of us not making 600 ftlbs by 2000rpm we find that when you launch the truck wants to bog out of the hole. If you slip the clutch some the rpms stay up and it never bogs. Down side is that it EATS clutches QUICK. Thats how you get a sub 1.9 sec 60'.

There is such a thing as a "slipper" clutch in drag racing.

No it is not for the street, it is strictly a drag race clutch.

It is usually a multi disc, centrifagul clutch. It engages at a predetermined RMP + - a few hundred RPMS.

Center force seems to be the best bet at this time.
