Co-workers cleared in deadly shooting...

damn that is crazy ain't no way I would do anything like that. Iwould have shot the kid the second time he lunged car forward. I love how in the article the family said they are suing the police.:banghead:

Of course they'll sue the police...... The lawyers make sure of that..... Rapacious butfkrs....

It seemed like the evidence was presented in the first few seconds... The officer was attempting to subdue the suspect when the suspect endangered the officers life by driving off with him hanging out of the car..... At that point....it was on... Unfortunately, I'da had to shoot him, too....

I laughed when I saw him blow the sign out in front of the station.... Wasn't sure if he was actually running code at that point or not......

Glad all yer boys came home alive that night....

Sworn officers face this kind of situation every moment of their shift...they never know when that motorist on the side of the road is some deranged or krazy person that will act in a hostile manner.

Our appreciation to those that are willing to stand between those people and the rest of us.

You have to be deranged to think you can out run the radio in that patrol vehicle...
 
I think it's quite simple. If a person runs from the police, then resists the police while endangering lives. There is not a lot that can be done to end it quickly.

I can't blame the officer but I am sure this will haunt him. The questions he will always hear in his mind are:
Why didn't I just turn the ignition off?
Why didn't I just throw the car in neutral or park or reverse or just out of gear?
Why didn't I grab the wheel?
Why didn't I knock the kid out with the butt of my gun?

I think there were alternatives to shooting but I wasn't in that car. Maybe the kid was on drugs and had super human strength. I just don't see how the officer could not turn the key off or throw the car out of gear. Do mustangs have an emergency brake in the center console? If so, why couldn't the officer pull the brake? No matter what, it's a waste of life and the officer will probably be haunted by this.

Usually won't find me defending cops, but this guy put himself in the jackpot and there is no reason to expect a cop to try all these things. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of cases of cops shooting too quick, but once you put them at risk of serious injury or death, I would expect them to act just like I would act, which it appears he did.

I'm sure that the patrolman made every attempt at those kinds of things...

Shit is happening so fast in that situation- arms and hands are flying. The perpatrator is trying to push you out of the moving vehicle. In fact, I think that the officer put himself into a "no win" situation when he committed to being inside the car.... I believe that was an overly agressive and placed him into jeopardy unneccesarily.... Herioc, no doubt.... but still too risky...

That fkr was crazy............

You know I have to ask, what compels somebody to become a cop? I can tell you that my current situation has made me very, very jaded towards cops. Coming from someone that has donated tens of thousands to police causes, I finally have to ask, what drives someone to become a cop?

I'm sure that the reasons are as multiplicitous and the number cops in the world....

Some reasons are based on a desire for power. Some are a desire to protect and defend. Some are for job security... Some just wanna make a living being the good guy.... It's a fun, interesting and sometimes dangerous job.... It's not for everyone....
