coated headers or not?

hey guys i have a question. i will be soon installing a set of mopar long tub headers and catless mids on my truck and just want to know if i should have these coated for heat reasons. if any of the members on the forum have headers do you have them coated? would you coat them if you didnot have them coated?

ceramic coated lookes better, cant say as far as heat issues go.

I use Jet Hot MCCI Sterling 2000 series thermal barrier coatings. The stuff looks and works great.

Have them coated both inside and outside, they look better, last longer, work better, easier to take care of and get more heat away form engine compartment.

Definately get them coated I had my headers coated with the bright finish from Jet Hot. Uncoated stainless will start to look brown & ugly after awhile

I HAVE THE MOPAR HEADERS AND I DID NOT COAT THEM. I DONT HAVE ANY HEATING PROBLEMS AND I DIDNT EVEN USE THE HEADER WRAP. EVENTUALL I MIGHT HAVE THEM COATED FOR LOOKS BUT AS OF RITH NOW THEY ARE JUST DARK BLUE.

I am running the MOPAR long tube headers. Did not coat them, but if I had to do it all over again, I would coat them. Bought the headers and had them installed thru my dealer. The headers come with limited heat wrap for specific areas which the dealer dutifully installed. Problem was, when you opened the hood, it looked like sh....t with parts of the headers wrapped and other parts bare metal. Since I was not about to pull the header off and send them out to be coated, I went ahead and wrapped the headers entirely with DEI Header wrap and stain steel ties. As for heat, headers generated a LOT more heat under the hood than stock manifolds. Even with the headers fully wrapped, there is still quite a bit more heat under the hood. But the additional heat has caused no problems.

Bottom line: I would ceramic coat them more for appearance and longevity if I was to do it all over again!
