I've been trying to go through the threads and find the answer to probably a stupid question, but here goes.
Should only headers get ceramic coated or should the whole exhaust system get coated as well?
I found a thread that mentions headers but not the connecting pipes.
 :dontknow:
Thanks for all your help.

i coated my headers with jet hot and left the mids alone. can be done both ways i now wish i would have coated my mids as well. its not much more to coat the mid pipes.

main reason i coated the headers is to keep the heat down under the hood. it did the job.

Thanks for the reply. Is there any reason to coat the mids except for the heat issue? I am supposed to have the mids installed the 17th. I am getting them from B&B.

Yeah what he said!!! The other reason for coating the mids is just like everything else, it just looks good and it only costs a little more to go first class.

but correct me if i'm wrong. If you get stainless steel mid pipes, what is the reason for coating them. I could see coating plain metal pipes, but you buy stainless for the anti-rust and the looks. Maybe I dont understand.
I understand coating the headers becuase of the engine heat issue, but why the mids?

Stainless mids still ahve welds etc, costing them looks MUCH better. Containing the heat in the mids is just as important as containing it in the headers as I understand it. Something to do with the velocity of the exhaust....

Six of one half dozen of the other on this one i'd say... imo,, i wouldn't and save the money to buy beer. :marchmellow:

HEAT is the simple answer.
The engine bays in the trucks run hotter than Giselle rolling around in an inflatable pool of vegetable oil.

My stock mainfolds were Jet-Hot coated. It dropped their temp from 625ºF down to 350ºF.
Ceramic coating won't come close to that.

Jet-Hot has a lifetime guarantee against rust as well.

For my stock manifolds it was just under $400 (including shipping both ways) and took less than 2 weeks.

what kevan said !!

i had my B&B LT headers jet-hot coated for ~ $400.00.... if you're going LT headers, i wouldn't bother with coating the mids.....

you might consider it though, if you're staying with shorty headers/stockers...... some are having melting inner fenders & starter wires with bassani's.....:(

IMO,I would Jet hot coat both, reason being headers engine bay heat and the mids to help keep the heat awat from the tranny!! Ive seen ceramic coating rust also,Jet hot coating can also be colour match painted also.

Talking to the techs over at B&B they said that it doesnt make any sense to coat the mids. They said most all of the heat will be in the headers and if anything to coat them if I want. The only reason that they could see to coat the mids was to prevent rust, but they are high grade stainless so they said it would be a waste of money. Any more feedback on this?

are you running long tube headers ?:dontknow:

I didnt get the headers yet. just the mid and back. I was going to wait till I had the funds for the headers. Should I get LT

So what is the difference between regular headers and LT headers?
And why would I want to swap the cats?

hp wise, not enough to justify their cost....... sounds great & does add some extra punch...

the swap out option is necessary for DEQ, especially if they do a visual &/or a sniff test. :D

So let me get this straight. Tell me if i've got it.
The reg headers dont allow you to switch the cats?
And the LT headers allow you to switch the cats and add a little more hpbut they cost more?
And regarding inspection, dont you use a private facility?

LT headers make it much easier to switch mids........

LT's have alittle more hp & alot more sound quality & cost alot more.....

private facility ?? :dontknow: they don't check your emmissions in a "private" facility ???
alot of DEQ stations just hook up to your obdII port to check, but some do visuals & sniff tests.......
