I've always been curious how the shifter "works". . . Meaning, what direction does it move to engage the gears? It's always appeared (to me) to move in a vertical-like motion. . .

Sorry, I lied to you regarding the shifter. It's funny, you get so used to it so quickly I did not notice how much different it is.

I would estimate that 60% to 65% of the shifter travel is in the vertical direction.

Just wanted to clarify that for you.
