Cold Air Intake

yeah i kind of like jmb too, is that jmb or....i dont know and where did u got that black air hood??

So, if you want the JMB to match the valve covers, what color do you order? Do you get the clear coat option?

For it to work properly, do you need to remove the plastic piece behind the grill on the passenger side?

Here are the drop-ins that Roe has (S&B)....has anyone tried these?

I'll go ahead and post here too Ron for reference.

To match the valve covers with the texture, choose glossy red wrinkle. To match without the texture, choose gloss red (also very close to flame red).

You do not have to remove it, its up to you. I have removed some completely, and others I have cut out to just be open where the filter/airbox is.

Thanks for the order Ron!

I WENT WITH THE VOLANT.PROBLY SHOULD HAVE SHOPPED
AROUND A LITTLE.LITTLE SEAT OF THE PANTS DIFF.
BY WHEN YOU PUNCH IT, BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
GOTTA LOVE IT.!!!!!!!

What i dont like about the mopar ram air, or the JBM is the fact that water could get on the filters. Wouldn't the mopar trickle the water down the snorcal of the ram air portion? What about the JBM with the grill open. Wouldn't water just spray onto the filter? Hmmm, I might just go with the K&N or drop in.

hmmm but i have heard that K&N let more dirt in than air...so honest, i couldnt decide which is good hmm...but kn still look good and great price

I have an Airaid drop in that I got from a prior vendor on the site. I like the way it seals to the box better than a K&N.

A lot of people think that the K&N style filter lets dirt in because they can see through them. What you cannot see with the naked eye is the small fibers that are there and capture the dirt.

I personally believe K&N style filters are fine for most situations. I know some of the guys with heavily modifed Cummins diesels in their trucks had issues with them. But then they were running 40+psi of boost and could suck small children off the sidewalks.

One word of warning on the K&N style. MORE IS NOT BETTER, when it comes to oiling them. If you over oil the filter you run the risk of screwing up the sensors downstream from the filter.

Oil on the filter should prevent water from entering the intake, no?

BTW there are water by-pass valves that can be installed if there is a high possibility of water being present near the intake. Here is one by AEM, check the link.

In the end,it all comes down to personal preference. My opinion is that the Mopar and Volant are over-priced and deliver no more power than any of the others.Someone here did a test and found that the hood scoop is actually a low-pressure area and therefore does not force air into the intake. The K&N and JMB are similar ( I have the K&N because I didn't know about JMB ) but I would definitely prefer the JMB over the K&N.The air-deflectors behind the grille were designed to help hold the truck down to the road at high speed.I am not sure if removing the one in front of the air filter would help air flow or not.I opted to leave mine in place. My personal opinion is that a drop-in would give just as much airflow, however the aftermaket kits do seem to smooth the air because of their smoother intake tubes.Water will probably never be an issue with ANY filter option.
