Cold Weather Traction

Was cruzin the HW today , dropped in 4Th to accelerate @ around 80 Mph .. truck did a slight fish tail. Road was good no turns Temp around 30F. Anyone experience stuff like this?:dontknow: :dontknow:
This is the second time I have this truck out in Cold Weather. Last week I almost had a spinout.. this never happened in summertime. Is Temp a consideration with these tires and ground ?
 
Exactly why mine is put away for the winter.

Steve, these trucks can break loose under moderate acceleration when the pavement changes from cement to blacktop...without regard to temperature.

The torque is the issue.

There are numerous tales of woe in the archives of the evil nature of the rear end of our trucks...care should be taken at all times. The rear trying to lead is a syndrome that will bring out the gray in you hair very quickly.

Be careful friend.

This is what initiated my previous thread " Gas tank relocation". Now everything fits in!. The learning experience goes on...
 
These tire compounds are hard anyway... In cold weather, they are even worse. Be very careful out there..... One sudden move, or a mis-judgment with the pedal (any of them), and you truck WILL kill you. As with my Lightning, these vehicles are very unforgiving.

I would HIGHLY suggest you get more weight in the bed. I had one of these in the bed of my Lightning, and I loved it. It made a HUGE difference. :)

yeap reason i saw snow flurries and truck hasn't drove since lol just takes a nice chilly day and its like wakening a beast it doesn't want to sit still

What did you expect to happen? Cold tires, cold road, lots of sudden TQ...... :dontknow: ;)

Funny because not just a few months ago everyone that got a flash or tuner was talking about how they could now bark the tires in second and were HAPPY about it.

Not trying to talk down to you, but use your brain, you live up north, you've driven in snow and cold for a while (I presume) it doesn't take a genius to realize that you have to take it easy. "With great power comes great responsibility" Spider Man :D

When I bought my truck I read other guys asking how was it to drive in the rain, snow, etc and everyone's response was that it was a total death trap and you'd absolutely die in anything other than 90 degree temps. So not true. It's a freaking 6 speed, you pick the gear you want to go in, you choose how hard the clutch engages, and most importantly, you choose how hard you accelerate, brake or turn!

Just my $.02 worth :D

You got that right.. How much does stock wing provide? Didn't you do some research on this a while back?
 
It was a balmy 22* here this morning.:D

My truck is in the driveway awaiting new shocks and other stuff.Won't be driving it for a bit,maybe after new year ?

The General Grabber UHPs seem much better in the cold than the Pirellis,for what its worth.

Remember I was always complaining about me not spinning my tires?? well guess what yesterday night late about 12 midinght it was hella cold outside i mean probably 40 degrees. I floor it getting on the freeway on ramp and It starts to spin and go a little sideways:burnout: This truck is a Different animal when its hella cold outside. I don't know why???
