Competition race fuels...

Do you guys think the motor can pull enough timing when using this stuff to show any improvement? I bought a quart to try out. I am going to mix it to get 97-98 octane. Bone stock motor.

I did a test on the dyno with a tune where the truck was leaning out at 4800 rpm and above...A/F went from 11.8 to 13.1 by 5500 rpm....on 93 octane the truck started detonating slightly at 5000.......we added one bottle of Lucas octane booster per 10 gallons of 93 and did another run on the dyno...

No detonation and the power line on the graph was much smoother...also picked up 25HP at 5500.....the increase in HP was probably due to timing not being pulled by the knock sensors..

Interesting reading. I bought a quart of the stuff because there is no unleaded race fuel anywhere around here. Got it from kalbones race shop. He runs 2 funny cars and 2 monster trucks. He sells leaded race fuels.

I just had a customer bring me his truck for my bedliner. His dad sells Outlaw Race Fuels. Gas, Methanol and Nitromethane. Rare to be able to find those.

I have the same problem here....leaded race gas is just minutes from my house......unleaded race fuel is about an hour away and costs twice as much ($4.99 vs $8.99).............I have used the leaded several times but have decided against using it anymore due to deposits being embedded into my tailgate......it has a slight haze that I cant get out....not real noticible unless you get the light just right........anyway the Lucas seems to work....I used it with a 100 octane tune I had (mixed 1 bottle to 5 gallons 93) and no detonation..
