Coolant and Oil temp difference?...

Should I be concerned if my colant temp is 200-205 F and my oil temp is 180 F during urban driving? It will climb up to to 200 if I let it idle for a long while.

Oil pressure is 75 PSI during startup and 25 PSI at 180 F idle...

It started to happen when I used 5w40 Amsoil for Supercharged/Turbo vehicles.

Might be a stupid question but I am pretty sure someone will let me know...

It's normal for oil pressure in these trucks to go from 40-50 psi (idle) up to 75 psi (past idle). It's a little freaky to watch at first, but it's normal.

Your coolant and oil temp numbers are about the same as mine, within 5 degrees.

I have been watching my temps lately. I see about the same water temp 200-205. It will go up a little over 200 after I run it hard but then it comes back down to 200 or so. My oil temp has been lower lately due to the WX. But when oil temp is down, the PSI will be up. I think all your numbers are good, no worries.

I was wondering the same thing.I just put in my Paxton and a 172 t-stat.My coolant temp is 200-205 and oil is 200 as well. But when i run it a little harder the oil has gone as high 210-215.I hope this is normal.

Before DC's 170 thermostat I was running around 200 degrees coolant temp. After the thermostat I've never approached 200...including the hard road racing I was doing a month or so ago. Oil temp seems fine.

One thing to remember is that it is normal for these V10 motors to run over 200 degrees and even a bit more. I had the same thing in the Viper.

Im thinking that I need to bleed my coolant again.I have the 172 stat and im still at 200-205.

I have the same T-stat, but it is sitting on floor in my room. But I noticed I seem to be running hotter now that I put the hi-flows on. AF is leaner, boost is steadier and my water temp seems to be a little higher. But my oil temp is right around 200 +/-10.

I was just concerned since the Paxton uses engine oil to lubricate itself (that didnt sound right:eek: ).I guess my oil temp is normal then. Thanks!

I think my STS uses the same oil also.

So you all see your oil temp being 20 degrees cooler than your coolant?

Depends on OAT. My water temp is always around 200 after warm up. Oil temp is anywhere from 180-210 depending on OAT. If it is cold outside then my oil temp is lower. Hotter outside then my oil temp is higher (but still in limits).

its fine, and its fine if its gets to 200 as that will allow moisture to burn out of the oil from condesation.
you should see the oil sometimes if not more often be cooler than the water as it not passing thru the combustion chambers.

170 coolant and 170 oil...consistently... Running it hard, it gets to 180/190 on both, they both stay equivalent on mine.
