Decided to do some cosmetic upgrade while my truck is still on non op before I bring her back to the streets. Red paint on the valve covers had seen better day and decides to do a wrinkle black rattle can about 7 years ago. That was good for a while until they started to peel too. Below are some pictures of the red paint and wrinkle black.

7 years ! Not bad for wrinkle paint on a hot engine … Are you planning on doing them again ? Maybe try caliper paint !

I stripped them from the rattle can paint, went with my local powder coat shop. Price was pretty cheap($100.00) for both, turn around was about a week and a half. Went with wrinkle black to pay homage to the 426 hemi wrinkle black valve covers. Turned out pretty good. Also got new valve cover gaskets($90.00) and had to add some bling. Some new arp bolts($89.00) to replace the old factory bolts.

Pardon my ignorance but how do the valve covers get messed up in the first place? The finished powder coated black ones look great and I get how the rattle can paint wouldn't last but what causes the originals to go bad?

The originals go bad after time because of some many heat cycles they go through.

A couple of pictures of them installed. Decided to also replace my spark plugs since I had more room due to the valve covers being removed. They turned out pretty good.

Oh that makes sense! Garage Queens like mine don't get many heat cycles hahaha

There's only one color hahaha
I've thought of doing a Viper Logo Livery on the back side corner of the bed with a stripe in dark matte black or something along those lines. Gotta wait until the salt washes away on our roads here.

Also since the truck was down, decided to replace my power steering pump. It’s been going out for a while now, just haven’t had time.
