Cracked Harmonic Balancer!

So i just got a phone call from the dealer, I was having ome warranty work done to replace my main gasket and in the process they found my harmonic balancer cracked???? Anyone ever had this happen or heard of it? The balancer itself was tight and not loose? They say my cam is fine but still ive never heard of a cracked harmonic balancer . Thank god for warranties, its not gonna cost me a thing but jeeze. Wonder if this happened from NOS, because the previous owner ran NOS, maybe???

So i went down to the dealer today to see this balancer, apparently it was bolted in tightly but when the tech and i looked closer, this thing must have been rattling before from the chips on the inside of the mounting point. We think whom ever cracked it probably had it lose and didnt know, hit the nos and well hello huge crack! And we know they took it somewhere to get fixed and that particular place decided not to say anything about this little warranty issue and or wouldnt fix it due to the Nos hook up. Thank god i dodged that problem cant imagine racing the truck around and that balancer cracking though, Can anyone say toast and 3 months fighting for a new engine under warranty Hope theres no more suprises i cant take anymore currently.

what is the warranty cut off for 2004 RC. I haven't heard of any recalls. I just bought mine about 3 months ago.

Depends on when it was bought. Some of the 04s had a 7/70 warranty and mid year Dodge started reducing it to 3/36.

Some 04s sat on lots until 2005 or 2006 so the warranty didn't start until they were bought and titled. Your dealership should be able to tell you what your warranty period is. :rock:

It all depends on when yours was bought, for example mine was purchased in 2005 new therefore i still have factory warranty. Check with your dodge service department they can tell you when the truck was first purchased.

My dealer can look up my VIN and tell exactly when my warranty runs out for any item on the truck. I'm sure a quick phone call to any so called 5 star dealer can net you the remaining warranty on your truck.

If you get your vin report from stingray it will show the inservice date.
