If he put to much oil in it, it would cause smoking and the rear main would be the first to leak. The cooler lines wouldnt leak because of too much oil.;)

Not sure if this is a sarcastic question lol....but either way, large pulley, center bottom.

not sarcastic... I am an engine retard. I have very little experience with engines. Sorry if it was a lame question but I am about to go out and check the bolt! Thanks for the help

you will know which one it is .....it will be finger tight like mine:bawling:

UPDATE

truck was in the shop today. they tightened the boats after applying blue locktite. they told me only one was tight.
the price for all this hard work?
$20
lol
so yeah it was an issue. glad its fixed, got the oil changed too 110.
need tires. working on that now for the inspection.
drove 250 miles today just to run errens and to go to dinner.

I found out mine was loose after it threw the belt off and caused one hell of a mess under the hood, and left me stranded and waiting for a tow truck on a nice Saturday afternoon:argh: :argh: Glad you got the issue addressed before it caused you that sort of mess.:p

Ain't that a bitch? I never dreamed a crankshaft pulley on these '04 gen III's would come loose.. I bet now that it was mentioned I'll find mine finger tight too. Which Loctite? 246? Because Loctite 242 and 243 are blue as well, but weaker..

you might need it back off again. use blue.
took two mecanics to get the belt on.to witch they said, "boy i'd hate to try and do that one the side of the road."
and
"i've never seen a belt with such tension."
they have worked on vipers before. apparently we have a viper collector in the area. he has 8 vipers and they do the work on them.
my mechanic also has a rail.
so he has great experience on fast cars.
i also found a proformance shop not 30 miles from my house.

Checked mine and could not budge it with my fingers. I am wonder if I should stick a torque wrench on there just to make sure it is snug. Does anyone know the torque and socket size?
