ok well i just got off the phone a little while ago with the guys fromart about my motor....turns out the block is perfectly fine an that. theres no work that needs to be done to the block beside resleveing it....well they told me im going to need a new crank cause when my rods went one rod wacked it pretty good an we cannot use it...my question is should i replace it with a stock crank or should i look for an after market one? an should i go ahead an stroke it now since im going to have to deal with the crank?.....if you have any hook ups let me know please i know the crank is pretty much the heart an soul of our motor..this rebuild was going to be done back 100% stock except the cam an now thats all changed.. any thought of comments are welcome...

stocker is just fine ............ good to a 1000+ hp i believe that an aftermarket billet one is somewhere in the range of 4500 bucks

If you got the cash then stroke it. Otherwise just go with a stock one since it pretty strong.

Crower make one, but unless you are going over 1000 or 1500 you dont need it, jsut talk with David, he willl point you in the right direction bo

I heard Moldex makes a billet crank for these engines- but I am positive when billet cranks are mentioned you'd better have a billet wallet.

k thanks for the info guys anybody know round about how much a stock crank is?

how much is stinkers kit opposed to the crank?

I think it is 12,500 with a core for the short block;) If I had the funds that's what I would buy but I don't so I will go another route:D

i just paid to have my block fixed lol

That's what I am planning on doing if my block is salvagable:dontknow: $200 verses 3k hard decision for me:D :D

Kyle there is another option of $8500 from one person, and 12,500 or so from another bro, repairs, man I have no idea bud

IMO go with the stock crank shaft. Get it Nitride treated, grind and polish to size. New coated main and rod bearings...

But you must go with forged pistons and rods...I just cannot imagine not doing that unless the truck is to be sold immediately after the rebuild.

prof.....thats a very good chance it'll happen.... only reason i'm returning it back to stock is cause i'm not going to race it ...
