We had another death on our roadways here on Maui this weekend. Was told it was a sport bike(crotch rocket) where speed and antics were his downfall. When is doing wheelies in traffic a safe thing? I see this happen way too frequently. Seems this guy lost it hit a guardrail and was run over by the car behind him. His bike skidded for another 480 feet. He was 24 years old and no helmet. His death is the 5th death on Maui roads this year of which 3 were on motocycles.

We all have done some stupid things in our trucks on the roads but IMO riding a bike is a lot like flyn a plane. There is not a lot of room for error. So IMO dont do it, but if your gonna wheelie in traffic..... dont f#ck up!!!

I feel bad for his family and friends........what a waste.

A fast bike is the quickest way to practice "Natural Selection".... :( :dontknow: It's too bad, but it's no-one's fault but their own.

Yup! When I heard the road was closed due to a bike wreck and death my next question was, "was he doing a wheelie"?

See them doing that crap all over the roads here in Orlando.

It is sad, but it makes me angry to think of how they put everyone around them in danger too.

Already seen way too many "squids" on the roadways in the Houston area. Here is evidence of stupidity........

A 19-yo idiot doing 90 mph on a wheelie....slams into my girlfriends car......to the tune of $17,000 damage......

He was hospitalized for 3 months.............:argh: Luckily she walked away with just a couple of bruises.

Hey Patrick,
I drove buy the "road side " memorial yesterday, sad WTF are they thinking??

It is just crazy the things i see from some street bikers...Here in Jersey they are considering making it a requirement to obtain a special license before you can buy/register a streetbike over 600cc You will have to pass a safety class and show that you can operate the bike. Not sure if it will help at all, but it is scary that any 17 year old kid with $100 deposit can walk into the dealership and ride out on a 1000cc machine.:dontknow:

Sure they'll pass the "test".... Most practice that shit in parking lots. And, don't get me wrong, there are some peeps that can truly do amazing things with rockets..... I have bunches of stunt videos. It's when they take what they know to the "street", in a environment full of variables (cars, dirt on the road, pot holes, stray dogs :)argh:  ), etc)...... that's when skill turns to STUPIDITY, IMO. That's when kids get dead. :(

Agreed...

On the way home from dinner tonight I was merging on to the highway and some jackass on a crotch rocket went flying by me at atleast 110, he was about 6 inches from my door, I almost hit him:mad:

The dumb kid should have never been riding without a helmit. But some people just won't learn.

Bill.

My son and his friend were riding on the streets of Orange County one night. My son had his Nighthawk and his friend had a 750 Ninja.

They were doing a bit of teenage go-fast when the light turned red. Paul shut it down but his friend didn't.... His body went into a car with the window down.... His head went over the top.....

Sometimes a helmut won't save you..... But brains and good judgement will....

Youth is a dangerous drug.........

God bless the kid and his family......

Shit happens.... be ready...... show good sense.... It may make all the difference.

When I was young, I cheated death 1000 times..... I was a junkie for the "seat of the pants" rush of cranking that wrist and staying on top.... It was an addicition that makes crack cocaine look like bubble gum..... I fed that addiction into my 50's.....

Nearly 10 years ago, I wised up and decided that it was time to be thankful that I wasn't dead yet....

Then my little nephew killed himself on his GSXR 1000.... Came up over a rise on the Boeing freeway at triple digits and put it right into the back of a pickup... killed him instantly, thank God....

I felt (to a degree) responsible because of all the times he'd heard his Dad tell stories of my antics on motorcycles. Teddy Jr. loved the acceleration rush as much as I did..... and it fuckin' killed him....

Now ya' know why I come down on street racing as much as I do.....

What a fuckin waste.....:(

Sorry.

To be honest, the truck is not that much safer. You just feel safer because of all that steel around you is all.

Sorry guys but the truck is waaaaay safer than a bike. I have raced motorcycles and cars and the safety of the car is so much better that there is no comparison. I mean, I hit the wall racing the car and laughed as I kept going and throwing flames all the way down the front straight. I made a minor mistake on the MX track and over 2 years later I still have pain in my ankle that will probably stay with me the rest of my life. If you ride a motorcycle on the street, the odds are stacked against you. I love bikes but I refuse to ride on the street. I had a Ninja 600 when I was 18 and I know how lucky I was in several situations where I could have been killed. Street bikes are dangerous no matter how good or how safe a rider is. Too many potential hazards that you cannot control. You add stunting on the street to it and you are playing with fire. Death is only a matter of time and bad luck or poor judgement.
