Damn DMV was overcharging me all along!!!

So its the time of year again and I have to pay the tags for the truck again. The first time I paid I fiqured thats what they cost for a new truck..The second year I fiqured they were pretty high but oh well.
This year I fiqure something has to fkn wrong...Why am I getting charged 225 for a weight fee? Overall renewal fees are $430 so its a big chunk of money for me.

i decided to call the DMV and findout how much they charge according to weight.. She didnt want to get specific...So then I asked well how much does it show you guys that my truck weighs? She then said 6,400 lbs,!!!

I couldnt help to laugh and tell her that is wrong! I know my truck is a pig that was way off. I then told her that truck really weighs about 5,200 lbs or so..She said I should go get it weighed and then provide a certificate to the dmv so they can correct it and fix the charges and reimburse for the overcharge on the last 2 years:rock: :rock: :rock:


Now, I'm gonna run it down to near empty, remove tailgate, and spare and go get this thing weighed.:D :D :D
 
Good luck, it will take 2 years to get your refund. Government is quick to take your money, not so quick to refund it.
 
That sucks, well one good thing about it was u caught it and now it is getting fixed :rock: :rock: :rock: :rock: :rock: :rock: :rock:

I've paid north of $400 for a bike! Cali is crazy when it comes to tags. Check out these fees, but what isn't included here is the VLF, which is based on value and is probably around .75% of the value or thereabouts, at least on bikes.

Registration fee 31.00
Hwy Patrol Fee 21.00
Motorcycle safety fee 2.00
County fee for freeway emergencies 1.00
Fingerprint fee 1.00
Autotheft/DUI fee 1.00
Abandoned vehicle fee 1.00
South Coast air quality fee 1.00
Valley air quality fee 6.00
Alternate fuel fee 3.00
Motorcycle cross index 1.00
Reflectorized license plate fee 1.00

Like I said, this is not counting the VLF, which would run $196 on a 30k bike. This part is tax deductible, but the $70 in fees listed above is not.
 
Plus if I'm not mistaken, we have to register our trucks in Calif as a commercial vehicle, otherwise you can't put a paper bag in the bed.
 
I think mine is right around the same dude. Let me know if you are able to get it down, I'll have to try it too. ;)

Man, that is complete:bs: they are nickel and dimeing like crazy.

Here in VA the plate fee is only like 35 bucks. But it's the personal property tax that gets you. That can be and is several hundred dollars depending on value of vehicle.

bought my personalized tag yesterday, 544.00 sales tax and all.

that was sales tax included, personal tags are only 50 bucks here, just bought the truck so the sales tax had to be paid

We have to pay to register our vehicles with the state that we live in. Some states are reasonable, others are outrageous.
