I finally got around to installing my new speakers in the dash. Turns out its really simple. For those of you that want to try this do it. The top part of the dash by the windshield just pops up with a little help via a putty knife. Just pop up all the connectors then pull toward steering wheel. (More connectors hold it in snug). Then its two screws, unplug factory connector and the speaker is out. I used some wire connectors to attach speakers since Crutchfield does not make adaptors for the dash speakers. If you look on factory speaker plug you will notice a G on one side which I assumed was the ground side. For some reason Dodge has 4 different colored wires between the two front speakers.:dontknow: Plugged everything in, fired up the radio and walla everything worked. Ours trucks do have a center speaker which I understand has its own seperate amp. There is no replacement for that speaker that I know of. This speaker sucks IMO. Anybody got any ideas? Maybe I should just unplug it?

Easy simple mod IMO so change out those speakers if your not satisfied with the stockers.

Thanks for the write-up Patrick. I've always considered changing the door and dash speakers. I'm going to add an iPod adapter and XM kit when I get a source for the items that work with the stock radio and steering wheel controls.

What are the watts on the factory 3.5" infinity's? When you had the dash apart do you know if there was enough room to fit a 2-ways speaker where the tweeter comes rises up from the speaker?

Patrick, all that talking and you never once said what you replaced the OEM speakers with... And were are the pictures? That was a great opportunity for us to see your truck some more.:D

After my stock system amp blew I removed everything that had to do with the OEM Infinity system from the head unit to the speakers. First, Kicker 6x9" co-axials were installed to replace the door speakers. The dash speakers were upgraded to Diamond Audio satellite speakers. The center channel speaker was also upgraded thanks to a 6 channel 800w HiFonics Titan I had installed to drive all mids and highs and a signal processor unit from ALPINE that accomodates the center channel. Boston Acoustics are used for mid-range rear fill while two JL Audio W6 subs are being pushed by a 1200w HiFonics Brutus amp. NAV and steering wheel controls were also upgraded so that I wouldn't have to lose those featires. I simply cannot settle for the stock system.

Opps......I replaced with Boston Accoustics. I did take some pics buy cant find them now.:dontknow:

The dash speakers are small 3 inch or something. There is very little room to add anything bigger but WTF do I know.

I replaced the rear ones on Sunday. Pulling out the sub (two screws), and the tool bed (3 screws) piece was simple. Pop off the side panels, unscrew seat belt bolts and the speaker is right there. Again the Chrysler plugs I got from cruthfield plug into the stock plugs perfectly but did not fit my speaker clips. So, a little snip and crimp of some new fittings and they hooked onto the speaker perfectly. Had to drill some holes as the speaker holes did not line up....no biggie. Put it all back together and your good to go. I had read years ago that stuffing some material into the stock sub actually improves the sound, so I plan on doing that this week when I get some of that material.

Overall replacing all six speakers was very simple and if I can do it anybody can. All you need is basic tools, screwdrivers, torq drivers, stripper, puddy knife, electrical tape and lots of extra wire connectors as nothing fit like it should have.
