Anyone ever been to Daytona 500 before? I have 20 people coming with me in Feb. What are some good hotels that aren't too far away, by good I mean cheap since they will just be for sleeping.

Also I am bringing an RV and have no idea what the parking situation is like other than the RV lots that the speedway sells spots in. I don't want to be in the infield because then everyone will have to buy infield tickets to get to the RV. Any other suggestions?? I can get up there as early as need be to get a spot. Thanks for any tips!!

LOL, you won't find a hotel with in 50 miles of the track this close to race day. We reserved ours 2 years ago and it was almost full. They have rv spots out side the track but those are sold out as well....

I have been several times. If your RV is big enough, you should consider a camping spot within striking distance, and forego the hotel.

I am not sure about hotels, as every time I go, I stay in a camper in Port Orange.

This late in the year you may have a hard time getting anything cheap, if yuo can find a hotel. You might check on weekly rentals of houses/condos in the area too.

Once you get that figured out, enjoy the hell out of it!! It is the best race you will attend!!! It has an energy all it's own!!!

thanks for that site silver, lots of stuff there.

Is there not alot of parking around the track like at Atlanta? Are the speedway RV lots the only lots nearby where they'll let you bring an RV?

There is next to no parking at the track.... The Infield parking is quite small as well. We were there for Speedweek last year It was insane. The day of the "big" race is just silly.

There is a small airport next to it they shut down and let everyone park there...

I have been several times to the 500.You are better off staying in orlando. Its about an hour from the track with normal traffic. There are a number of back ways into the track. As far as parking at the track, I have always parked at the college which is near the airport mentioned above. Not sure about RV parking.Never gone that route. It's a madhouse but something worth going to see.Just be ready for ALOT of traffic.Stay AWAY from I-4 after the race. Its a parking lot! Can't remember road names coming in the back way.I would be willing to look at my maps and help you get in from orlando area.PM me your contact info and I will look into it if you want.

You have one shot Joe;) try ramada inn, call there reservation # and try them, I always had some luck a few months before with them

daytona has free lots that we usually park in for free. there is nothing in these lots, just grass fields. they supply buses that take you to and from the track. this is how it works on busch and nascar race days. not sure if it is available during the rest of speedweek.

check these sites out.

www.travelocity.com
www.expedia.com
www.priceline.com
www.hotwire.com

i have used these in the past.

Can you stay overnight in those lots and have you seen RV's in them?

Thanks for all the tips guys. I've found a RV parking spot near the speedway. Ya'll stop by if you come to the race.
