Ok, I know this is the truck forum but I gots some advice to ask. Please read. I am fit to be tied over this.

My wife has an 07 Mazda3 we bought new. Never took it in for any kind of service, has 15K on it. I have changed the oil regulary in it and from the very first time I noticed oil around the drain plug (could have just been loose) but could not determine exactly where it was coming from. It was only a small amount so I was not to concerned with it. After the last two oil changes I can now see wetness around the seal to the pan where it meets the block. Was to the extent where there was oil inside the bolts as well.

So we had some other minor issues, flickering dash, and hinky automatic wipers. Took it in for warranty work.

Explain the problem and the service manager keeps asking me about aftermarket parts (there are none). Tells me about a diagnostic fee and if I caused the damage, I have to pay. Gave me an example of sticking change in the radio. Told him that is not the case, these are legitimate issues I want looked at. Should have known better then but there are not many Mazda dealerships around.

Get a call the next day from the dealership. We found nothing. Oil was from me not wiping down the oil filter housing, which is in front of and above the oil pan. The leak is in the rear of the vehicle mind you and blocked by the oil pan. Said it was blow by. Apparently oil in a Mazda defies the laws of gravity and physics and simply adheres where it wants to. There is also an undercover which is about 2 inches away from the pan when installed. See attached pics and let me know what you think. Looking for some advice on this. Could not just leave the car there. My wife is pregnant and has a 2 year old to deal with. Suo playing games for the week was not an option. Had to pick it up.

I called Mazda and filed a complaint because I had to pay $124 for absolutely nothing, after exploding on the service manger for paying fees on a bumper to bumper warranty. Also they wiped the oil away to attempt to hide the problem. It is a big job to remove the oil pan, pulleys, belts have to be cut off and replaced, ignitioin coils, crank shaft position sensor, coolant resavoir, and AC compressor all need to come off. Might be why they tried to dodge it and rip me off. Why? No idea, it is warranty work.

Pics were taken immediately after picking up car from ripoff artists.
Under Cover. Drain plug is just behind the lip when installed.

Look at RTV seal, you can see it is wet. Also remnents of the oil they tried to wipe out of the bolt heads. How does blow by from the front go down and then back up and stick into the seal in the rear of the engine? Yet leave no trace in the front??????
Oil Pan Rear

The so called culprit. Oil filter housing, cartrige type. Note the dry seal on the oil pan and clean bolt heads on this side. No leak.

Welp if its "blow by" its against the law to vent the crankcase to the atomsphere, ask them to show you the crank case vent tube which would allow oil to build up(that no diesel thats a mazda).

I want my money back and the rep wants me to take it back to the same dealer, even though he/she will not call me directly. Why? No idea. There is no work to correct since they did not do any. Simply want them to confim there is a leak and I will take it elsewhere. Any dealer people out there with some advice????

The blow by they claim is from me not cleaning the oil filter housing. That is where they claim it is from. Funny how none of it drips directly below the filter, huh?

Only one thing to do, clean the shit out of the housing. take some pics of it, then drive it around for about 150 miles and take some more pics.

its seems to be a small leak they really need to put dye in your oil and put a black light to it, that should have been done before sending you down the road the firt time.

That is the problem. To them it is not a leak. I did it. Lame ass excuse they came up with.

It is a small leak but a leak none the less that has gotten a little worse over time. That is why I was not overly concerned about it. There was a good amount of oil on the back top of the oil pan. That is why I brought it in so they could see it and the A-Holes wiped it off and blamed me for it. The pricks put on the paperwork, "Recommend Oil Changes be performed by authorized Mazda Dealer". Translation. I'm an idiot and splash oil all around and think it is a leak. Paid $124 for some jackass to wipe oil off the pan with a rag. WTF!!!

Then have those assholes change your oil, then when it starts leaking again take it back. ;)

I had a similar problem with a repeated egr problem in my diesel and I call Ford direct and explained my situation after they made me pay a deductible for the same exact problem that should of been fixed the first time....a few days later the dealer mailed me a $106 check and offered a free oil change on a diesel.. be a pain in the ass...it works!

LOLOL actually seen it happen:D

when I work at a gm dealer, we had a dick for a service manager like what he is dealing with, which is what he is a dick:mad: a worthless piece of crap, he just blew him off, wiped off the area , and should be fired.

personally i would contact the owner of the dealer, the area rep, find the area reps boss, contact him, an go as far as I could, I have seen junk like that happen over and over:mad:

but the dick at our dealership did something similar, the guy brought it back i dont know how many times, the manager finally told him not to come back , and basically called the guy a liar!, LOLOL the guy walks in one day, walks straight up to him, calls him by his name, and WHACK! right in the freaking balls!

we all laughed like hell at him:D nobody liked the guy, after we got rid of him, our profit jumped like 48% the very next month:D
