Im not sure if anyone has posted before about this but as it is starting to warm up a bit here in MD I want to start gettin my truck ready for shows. I plan to do all the work myself but wanted to ask what products you guys use and if there are any tips/tricks i should know about I would appreciate it.

Thanks
Tony

cool thanks guys and awesome site too. There was another one I checked out autotopia I think it was, both great. Thanks for the help again

i used to have a show car http://www.caromain.com/id/uncguy i hope that link works. 7 shows from MD to GA on the east coast. took 1st in all of them. judges look at little things. clean the INSIDE of your wheels, if the face is clean and the inside is all black and dirty it just looks like crap. make sure to wipe down your door sills and the painted inside portion of the door like when you open it, the underside of the door, clean the undercarriage as much as possible, some judges have a mirror on a stick that they stick under the car. ummm what else....clean your hood, the motor, the firewall where its painted, stay around the truck when its getting judged, politely ask if they have any questions about the vehicle you can answer for them, clean the inside of your fenderwells, wash and wax the truck really well, do NOT put on tire shine. when you get to the show spray the truck with a quick wax and use a microfiber cloth to clean it up, THEN USE TIRESHINE. if you put it on and then drive to the show it may spit up all over the paint, also evenly wipe down the inside of the wheel wells and the frame with tireshine where they can be easily seen to give it a nice black look, umm other than that its just really your truck vs who ever else is in the show, but i'll be damned if im loosing cause my ride is dirty ;) whew hope that helps!!!

Maguire's gold is a great product as well. Zaino is alot of work IMHO...I used the Maguire's for the 2 years I had my truck. Also for the in between jobs the spray detailer is awesome, especially for car shows Bro :D

Yep... I have to agree with the SICK. :) I have used Meguiar's products exclusively (after trying EVERYTHING else). Even when I was detailing professionally. .... Nothing else gives similar results along w/ price and ease of use. Zaino is good, don't get me wrong.... But, it's expensive and tedious IMO.

GREAT TIPS!!!! :) ..... One exception... Use the spray detailer on the car AFTER you use tire-dressing. If you don't, and it is windy, you will just have to wipe the car down again. :dontknow: ;)

wow thanks again. i really dont have any other hobbies let alone much of anything besides my truck so I dont mind spendin an afternoon or hell and entire day cleanin and detailin. I think the next big show I am goin to is the Mopar Nats in Carlisle July 6-8th. SO its plenty of time to get her ready. Im meeting up with a guy here in my Hometown who has a rumblebeee and were going to detail our rides for a gtg with the DTW MD chapter in Virginia on Saturday. Thanks again guys for all your help
