Detonation!!

Can anyone accurately describe what "detonation" sounds like in these V10s! the old cast iron block engines would sound like marbles rattling around in the engine if the timing was to far advanced, or detonating. after a few runs with the 75 shot of nitrous in my truck i don't hear anything unusual, but last night i did a 3 second 3rd gear blast with nitrous and a noticed a slight engine vibration after 4000 rpm. with the nitrous and nice and smooth without. could this vibration be "detonation"? :dontknow: I am running the truck with the stock tune ,stock plugs ,stock wires.

Detonation would sound more or less as u remember it sounding on ur cast iron engines. Its a hard rattling type sound, marbles banging around is a good description.

yep,it will sound like the pistons are rattling inside the cylinders!! Same as engine "ping" !!


Hows the plugs look Norbert?

I get some on mine when it's really hot out. Change your plugs to the one step colder ones. I have a set that came with the roe if you want them just stop by my work.

Talking about all this staff . I have to ask , I was going to put a new plugs in .
What kind do you guys run on almoust stock truck ...
