Can someone tell me what is the difference between the Diesel and Gas Clutches on our 48RE Trannies?

My tranny builder is suggesting to go with the Diesel Clutches...No price difference...I just want to job done right.

Thanks...

It's my understanding that the diesel clutch wont work because there designed for 3,500 rpm and we turn 6,000+...

Sorry, I should have updated my signature. The deal fell thru over a 1.5% interest dispute. I had a pre-approve check with a 3.5% interest rate and they wouldn't sell the truck with the discounted price at that interest rate. They wanted me to go thru their bank at 5%...

oh, sorry to hear. But ya still got a 10!!

Wachovia about 2 months ago...

i think a diesel clutch is more "driveable" the the 10 clutch, much greater holding capacity because of the higher touque... y do you ask? dun u have a auto in the QC?, then ud want a triple disk convertor.....they have a 30% better power transfer

He's asking about the discs in the auto tranny, not what you are thinking of as a clutch.

I really don't know what the differences are. Honestly I would lean towards what your builder wants to do. He (in theory) knows better than you, also if it frys in a month its better to be able to point out that you let him do it his way.

Yep..Went with the Diesel clutches...Wish me luck....

My last Dakota R/T had a 408 with a SC on it and when they rebuilt the tranny the used a bunch of diesel parts in it,they said they were tougher parts.
