Driving the truck tonight and noticed at WOT it sounded different than what it normally does, and it felt like it was down on power. The sound was a higher pitch (almost tinny) than the normal rumble. No CEL light, and all gauges looked fine. If there was something seriously wrong, wouldn't it have thrown a light?

Speaking of gas, I was running a little low and wondered if by taking off quickly, the gas was taken away from the pump, causing a lean condition; which changed the sound of the motor.:dontknow:

That would not be it. You would have had to been in the throttle for a long time to suck the gas out of the line all the way back to the tank.

I was told that if your fuel level gets very low, that your fuel pressure is not the same, i.e. lower than normal.

As long as it's not sucking air, it should not make a difference. Modern fuel systems should not be depending on head pressure in the tank for fuel pressure.

Sound was still a little different this morning, but definitely no loss of power. I'm wondering if my cats are starting to clog/come apart.

I thought you had Boomer's Mids on your truck.:dontknow: I would check for exhaust leaks. If you do have cats on take it to dealer right away if cats are clogged.

I did, but the truck started running badly. So I removed the mids; reinstalled the cats and ran the simulators to see if they were the problem...they were. My truck just doesn't like the type of sims that I have, so I will have to try something different. Right now I have everything stock again (cats and 02 sensors).
