I changed my Diff fluid today as it has been 4k miles since my 4.88 gears were installed and they called for a fluid change by 5k miles.

I followed Kevan's instructions.......good job dude.

One thing I did notice though was Unitrax stated I needed 8 oz of the friction modifier instead of Kevan's 4 oz. Well after putting in the FM, I was only able to add 2.5 bottles (32 oz. size) of gear oil. I just kept pumping until the oil came out the plug hole. I could not add anymore. My question is, is it possible that my gear change could take up more space and hence less fluid capacity?

Just being a little paranoid thats all.

TIA

your fine bro, you did good:rock: be it 4 or 8 oz doesnt really matter as long as its in the area of 4-8 ro so, then fill the rest with axle fluid, run it for a bit and check it the next day bo. you should be oky doky:D

Tony's correct.

4 oz. is the absolute minimum (8 oz. is probably the maximum recommended by Unitrax).
There's a couple of ounces there where you have some leeway with the LSA/modifier. As long as you got at least 4 oz. in there, you should be fine.

BTW- you did level the truck before re-filling, right?

You're fine.
