Differential Gear Oil??????

Just Moved to Reno NV from Southrn Calfornia
OK since ive change all the oils also going to change the rear end.

I will be taking off the diff cover and cleaning out with brake clean n inspect the gears.

What gear oil?
Do i add a limited slip additive?

Can i use high temp silicone?
OR
Get a mopar diff gasket?

If you use Royal Purple you don't need the limited slip additive.
 
While your at it, spend the $15 for a lubelocker gasket. They work great.

WTF is a LUBELOCKER gasket???

I assume its just a regular gasket?


Anyone know what the difference is between

GL-4
&
GL-5
?????????????

Cant find a reasoning for the number difference anywhere. Other than it says our trucks need GL-4.

Pull the drain plug, let the shit drain. Refill with 3 quarts Royal Purple 75w/90 and quit worrying about it.:D :D

LOL, I was gonna say "Here we go again" :D . Jack summed it up again.

How did you make out with the slave replacement?

Done. Not easy doing it by yourself. Not having the right tools. Freakin makes things easier that way. I had a transmission jack sorta. Just a big plate. I had to use towels and a tie down strap to get it aligned right. DOohhhh.

BUt all done and driving. Just no brakes yet.

So lets see.

Pennzoil Synchromax in Tranny.
Probably Royal Purple in diffe.
Mobil 1 in engine for now. Probably switch after 1K of break in after sitting soooooooo long.
THEN
Probably put in AMSOIL. Cant repeat an oil manufacturer. Might show favoritism.

Still would like to know the difference between GL-4 & GL-5.

Sortah like the GEN 1 Viper motor versus the GEN III.
