digital theaters suck.

ok, wend yesterday to see MI4 in Imax.
they obviously have digital filmless projection.
looked like my LCD at home.
when the camera panned, i could see choppyness.
i could see the pixels in the picture.
they have really ruined it.
oh, and i had shelled out $30 after all was said and done, $10 more then if i would have been mugged on the way in.....
that will most likely be the last trip to the threater for me.... unless a girl really wants to go

Cheap projector.
One thing that always bothers me is seeing the "rainbow". Some people see it, some people don't. This is because of the color wheel in the projector.

The rainbow only effect DLP projectors atleast.

Personally never been to the theater in a couple of year since I have my own at home now. I can't even stand film theater after watching movies on my own projector. And yes it is digital (LCD)

But ya the last IMAX I went to I didn't think was real impressive either, seemed out of focus. Alot of the panning issues has to do with the 100 year old 24fps that is used in all movies, even film has it.

yes, the panning is what i was referring to. it does it on my LCD monitor, but on my old CRT projection 1080P i have in storage, it does not do it. so when the film panned, it got all choppy.
this was Imax too. i bet regular movies suck worse.

which one did you go to scoobert. i know last imax i went to was in crossgates and it was pretty good. albeit expensive for my tastes like you said about 30 bucks a ticket and then no lube for buying popcorn and drink lol.

yeah, crossgates. 18 for the ticket, 8 for popcorn, 5.75 for the drink, lol.

Is it an IMAX thing? That's a lot of pixels to push. I've never noticed any such thing at the movies, but then again I haven't seen an IMAX film since before the digital revolution.
