Seen this video a few years ago, and wondered why it never took off. Must be a DOT approval thing, or cost must be through the roof.

Looks cool, but what happens after a side impact? I think you'd be trapped in a accident.

Even with a regular style door, you'll still get trapped in a side impact accident.

I wonder how this would work on a car that has a door that frames all the way around the window. They would probably modify the door to the point where they would make the window close up against the body, and delete the frame I guess.
