I've never been to Disney World. I think summer 0f 2009 will definately be time for me to take me and my daughter. She'll be 8 by then. A daddy-daughter vacation trip to Disney shouldn't be expensive or difficult.. Great thread; thanks for the idea.

Hey Bob anytime you want to come to florida to go to disney you are more then welcome to stay with us,we are only about 45 minutes from Disney,plus I have a keg and a lot of steaks for grilling.:rock: :rock: :rock:

Hey hey hey, I seem to recall you and your wifey telling me to let you know as well when I make it to Orlando with my daughter. I definately will..

My source for tickets just gave her last tickets of the year to a family member.
She will have more at the first of the year. I need more notice!!

It is also possible to get you into the park by walking you in with an employee, but again, they have blackout dates, and I think Thanksgiving is one of them...

The suggestion at getting Park Hopper Tickets was excellent. I wouldn't even consider the standard tickets. With the standard tickets, once you enter a park, your there for the day. I like the option of leaving one park and going to another if I want to.

Here is a good site for planning a package if you don't have to stay on site. You can save a lot of $$$ by staying at a hotel close by but not on Disney property.

You can do Disney for a reasonable amount of money but still have a great time. I've done both on-site and close by trips. With on-site all you do is eat, sleep, breath Disney. There is no escape. I found myself wanting to go to a regular restaurant for breakfast or dinner. Disney does offer good food but at a slightly higher $$ amount since they know your a captive audience. Again.......have fun. Just being there is magic.

When you go to Epcot, you gotta ride Soarin'. It's in "The Lands Pavillion". It's very popular so I suggest getting there as early as possible or take advantage of the "Fast Pass" system. GM sponsors the "Test Track" ride which is also fun. Here are some links to those rides: Soarin' Test Track
Thanksgiving the parks are going to be swamped so make sure you pack some patients with you. You will be standing in lines.

I would avoid going when it is crowded. Empty parks are so much better. We had annual passes for Disneyland, used to go a good 40 times a year probably. There were times we would get there and find it crowded and just bail. It's no fun spending your days standing in line and fighting crowds.

After reading a lot of post on not going when it is busy. We decieded to go to Amelia island instead. We plan on going to Disney in February. This should be a non busy time and I think we will get the most for our money at that time.

I'd second that. It is more enjoyable having the parks almost to yourself but you can still have fun when it's crowded. You'll learn the Disney Shuffle.
This time of year you'll see a part of Disney you won't see any other time of year. It will be all decorated for the holiday season.

You can go on "Behind The Scenes" tours too (must be 16 or older. Don't want to spoil the Disney Magic, extra cost). My wife and I have done tours in Epcot and Magic Kingdom. Tours take you on a couple of rides. Right to the front of the line, no waiting. Plus you get all kinds of info on the history and building of the parks.

Disney Hollywood Studios will be deck out in lights for the holidays.

Seriously though, you made the right choice. Why spend thousands to stand in line and bitch and gripe? You will have a much better time when the crowds are down. We spent 8 days there during low times and had a blast!

The talk about the crowds wasn't to scare you away from Disney. More to prepare you. I'd go again during the holiday season just to enjoy the festivities and decorations. I'm guessing that since they are offering a discount package that attendance is down and it might not be as crowded as in past years. Ever since you started this thread I've been toying with the idea of going. Just have too much other stuff going on.

Went to Universal Studios this morning. Couldn't believe how slow it was! Went around the park twice and rode everything twice within 2 hours! :rock::rock:

Attendance at all of the parks is pretty low right now. I hope that it is that un-crowded when you go!! It makes for a much more pleasant experience!!!
