You may have seen it,and yes Roy it was on Mississippi Public Television:D
Eric Clapton and a few friends, Billy Preston on keyboards, recorded a couple of sessions of Robert Johnson songs. He was a blues singer from the Mississippi delta, he recorded his music in 5 sessions back in 1937 and 1938. The first session they did was in England, the second session they did was at 506 Park Avenue in Dallas,where Robert recorded his final 2 sessions in 38,it is now an abandoned building. Clapton was talking about the talent that Johnson had, how he could play the guitar in 12 bars per measure ?and sing the harmony in a different time? something like that! Said he had to practice morning and night for a week to try and replicate his style. I had the surround sound cranked up for an hour:rock: The rest of the family went to the opposite end of the house:dontknow:
I miss listening to my dad play his guitar with some of his friends, those were great times when I was young!

All I know is that anybody named Robert Johnson is a good mofo hehheheheh.








But really without Robert Johnson we wouldn't have half the music we have today.
 
Here's some original Robert Johnson..... His style is unmistakeable...

The real allure about Robert Johnson came from the fact that since (in those days) all the blues players were well known to each other and to their fans... Robert Johnson was not considered to be that good....

Then Robert virtually disappeared for an extended period of time... It was rumored that he had gone to many different places and had many influences that had caused him to study, learn and practice... Because when he returned, he had become quite impressive.. Perhaps even too good....

So good in fact, that the story was being told that he went down to the (now famous) crossroads and made a deal with the devil... That he had indeed sold his immortal soul to Satan in enchange for all his newfound talent....

For these reasons and because of the few recordings we have, Robert Johnson is now rightly referred to as the cornerstone of American blues....

Thank You DjD! I like Robert Johnson and thank him much for doing what he did. As you know, I dig the hell out of Eric Clapton too:D :D :rock: . I love they way he does the Robert Johnson stuff :elefant: :elefant:

I was describing what I saw on MS Public Television. They said he lived to be 27 and they only had two pics of him. He was married twice and some believed he was poisoned to death.
 
Watching TV does not make me think of Tim all that much....It's usually when I deficate :D

Hey bro.....

I responded but I guess you din see it..... I said that it is a very generous offer and I'll definately think about it.... But I can't say for sure until alot closer to the date...... if that's OK.....and Thanks again for your generosity....

With regards to the Sickness, I don't think I've ever seen him in person.... Usually Mikey himself shows up....;)

I'm gonna dedicate this thread to the blues..... I believe the blues is worthy of it's very own thread......

This is the best version of Elmore James' "Dust my Broom" that I could find... There were surely alot of choices on You Tube... Some by big fat white boys who can play the shit out of a guitar.... I kinda felt drawn to this one because of it's purity... The others seemed to be presented a bit selfishly... There's alotta "hot dog", showoffs out there who just don't have the heart that I like to see in a blues player.... There was nothing by Eric that I found....
