Where would the headunit go?

What was unit? ;)

There is no need for a head unit when you go this route. You have a tablet that charges wirelessly and connects to the test of the system via bluetooth.

You can pair your phone to receive/make calls and do text over voice.

No more need for CDs, navigation disks, aux inputs, ext

You have Google maps or other nav services. You have all your music in digital format stored on the internal memory including videos and movies.

You can use Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go, YouTube and other entertainment apps

You have access to hundreds of online radio apps such as iHeart, Pandora, Spotify, ect

You can retain steering wheel controls or add external controls.

You get the idea. All from a $200 tablet. No need for a head unit.

Is a module needed to get the sound from the unit to the speakers? Speakers aren't bluetooth and the lack of head unit has me scratching my head...

It's pretty simple. You don't have to use bluetooth though. We like to use it because of so many additional advantages and features. You could use the ear phone jack, convert to RCA and then into aftermarket amps. If you have and want to keep the OEM infinity system, then do the same but go from RCA to a line level input to convert your speaker leads to RCA.

With Bluetooth, it works the same. BT module to RCA to amps

So how much is all the stuff to make it work?

Depends on how wild you wanna go. I mean, technically, you don't need anything but the tablet and custom piece to hold it. You could run it off its internal battery which is good for 8+ hours and use the earphone jack for audio out.

You can add digital audio converters ($20+), wireless chargers ($10+) DSPs ($100+), pre-amps($50+), bluetooth modules ($10+), steering wheel harnesses ($75+) and more and just keep driving through price up as high as you wanna take it or the wife will let you. ;)

that looks really good man. great idea:)

Thanks. We already had a few requests to do one and keep the price lower than most other shops and I don't think that's goingto be an issue.

I like the Hydrographics we did and moreso than carbon fiber. I'm not sure how the next one will be finished.
