Hey everyone,

Thought I would start a thread on radio control (R/C) model airplanes. We used to fly these all the time. They are such a blast  :D

Jerry has been building them since he was about 9 or 10 years old and since he can't do much of anything else anymore he dug out some wood and glued this one together over the weekend.

It's been about 10 or so years since we last flew, but I tried one of those simulators in a friends hobby shop a couple of months ago and I think I can still "wing" it :D :D :D

This one will be mine when it's finished (63" wingspan), but it will also be used as a trainer. It will be pink and white :D :D :D After it gets broke in, he will build some floats for it, then we can go float flying, too.

So, if you want to learn to fly or have a plane built, get in touch with Jerry. He can build anything you want - War Birds, 3D Aerobatic, Electric, Fuel, Gas, size doesn't matter he's built them with wingspans from 2" to 12'.

There are quite a few people I've met who like to fly and want old fashioned quality-built planes (not the chinsey ARF's from china) but just don't have time to build them.

I'll post up more pics as this one progresses :) :) :)

Post up pics of your planes .................. and a boat or two if you have them. No cars please :p

:)

I've built and wrecked a powered glider and I'm messing with a R/C helicopter now. Talk about your hand/eye coordination.

I haven't tried a heli yet. But, yes flying really takes hand/eye coordination. Also, when you fly towards yourself, you gotta think in reverse :D

Got Pics????

Thats very nice work can't wait to see it when she is done

Thank you, Jerry does do very nice, quality work. That's why I let him build for me ;) ;) ;)

Here's a vid of an expert pilot handling the Esky King Bee II. I'm just at a hover. No where near what some people can do with their choppers.

The glider is....well, think of a balsa wood kit before it's assembled. That's what that plane ended up looking like. Bent prop shaft and all.

Now that guy can fly, hover and land - the inverted flight just above the ground was awesome !

Hehehehehe, Jerry used to bring them home like that from the flying field when others would have a "bad day". They would let him have the wreckage and he would bring it home, rebuild it, take it back out and fly it. The previous owner(s) would be in awe that it was their old plane .....

Hey Jerry, when you come out of your hole, could you post up a pic of the big old Bud Nosen on floats please :D

I've always wanted to get into R/C planes but have never had the scratch to get started.

One of these days...

Cheap really, less than you would think, people just get carried away;)

$500-$700 and you are ready, and if ya crash, most of the time you just replace the plane, not the engine or radio gear.

and sometimes they look like this;)

The red one hit the ground at about 200mph  6hp tuned pipe Rossi .60 @17,000 rpms...... 6lb Plane = a Bullet

I got into the foamys. Even scatch built a few. When they get all beat up, transfer the radio and motor to a new one for a few $$.
The helis are a different story. I started back in the day with the Pico. Never could get it to fly right. Then bought a few others. I have a Lite Machines Corona that is carbon fiber with a brushless motor. I haven't flown it in a few years. Needs new blades and a tail boom. From what I remember it has a radio glitch I couldn't get rid of. Even tried a new reciever. Never fixed it after it dropped out of the sky last time.
I have a few other small helis, different E-flight ones. Thats about as far as I go. Basically just fly them out in the street.
