Do we have any PIs in the house? Or someone who can look up a person?

I have a friend who thinks that her husband is married to another woman. He doesn't live in the house, and refuses to get a divorce because he doesn't want to pay child support. Yeah, he's a real piece of work!

Anyway, if anyone can help, I'd appreciate it....

If your friend is in that situation:

1. Go to her county court house and ask as many Bailiffs and other court

personnel which ATTY they would use if they needed one.

2. Go to that atty with her case and he/she will take it from there.

.

if fla i would think all she would have to do is go to a lawyer and file. she should get whatever she ask's for when it hits court. they arent real male friendly.

The problem is that she is scared of him, and thinks that he will come after her if she goes to court. It's a very bad situation.

He was removed from the house by Child Services because he was beating his oldest son. They have 4 kids. He is supposed to be paying the mortgage, but the house is now going into foreclosure.
She says that she thinks that he has people following her. She says that there are 3 cars that follow her back and forth to work.

I don't know how much of this is paranoia and how much is real.

The biggest problem is that she doesn't listen to any advice. She won't go to the police, and doesn't have enough money for a lawyer.

The other night, someone broke the window in her daughter's bedroom, and she didn't call 911 until the morning.

I tried to tell her that by not doing anything, she is as guilty as those that are threatening her.

I don't know what else to do... You can't help someone who won't help themselves.

The most profouond part of your statement is..." You can't help someone who won't help themselves."...you should listen to your own advice. Been there done that...got the t-shirt to prove it.

I think that somebody really needs to explain to her that this is exactly the type of thing that continues to escalate, right up until someone ends up dead.

Either that or someone needs to explain to him in great detail how it would be in his best interest to forget about her and move on with his life, immediately.

Believe me, I am not going out of my way for her.

But, I guess at the same time I am considering the kids, who (for the most part) can't help themselves.

Yeah!! Where IS JoeMags when you need him???

:D

I thought in Fla you can get marriage records right off of the internet? Hell, here in Holmes County, they print marriage and divorce filings weekly in the local paper.

I know but the problem is, neither can you...no one can help them if the parent doesn't want help...as sad as that may be, it's a fact.

I have yet to find a free way to find them....

It is difficult to save someone from themselves.:(

PS: If he is under a court order to keep up the mortgage, she can file a

affidavit of indigence and the fee's will be waived.

She can file for divorce without his consent. It doesn't matter if he doesn't want one. When she files a preliminary hearing is usually set when children are involved to ensure they get the financial support needed/required while the divorce is pending. She can also get a restraining order to stop any and all harassment to either her or the kids by the husband or any of his associates.

What I don't understand is if he was still legally married when they got married, that's a crime. Beside the fact the current marriage would be null and void. He still would have to support the kids if he is the biological father regardless of the marriage status.

Scott, you in FLA right?

if so, this is what I found. Although I scrolled down in the "document type" field to where it says marriage record and typed my name in and found nothing.

Maybe you will have some luck.

Very nice!! I found mine.

And I found nothing with his name on it going back to 2000. So, I think she may be wrong about that.

Thanks Travis!!
