Does this need replaced?

I took my filter off before i stored my truck this winter so i could clean it, when i took it off i notice that the bottom had rubbed on a bolt and done some damage. Is the filter worth cleaning? the only bad part of it is at the very bottom where it wouldn't get any air anyway. Thanks for any input.

Don't piss around, change it. A filter is much less than a engine. That filter looks like ass anyway so I would change it regardless. One other thing, just because it's on the bottom doesn't mean air won't get to the spot. Air, fluids, etc take the path of least resistance and if you have a hole that is the path it will take.

I had the same problem with my filter. I cleaned it and covered the damaged area with silicone and put that side down so you don't see it and no more problem.

This is not the best idea and why forums are lousy for really bad information. Siliconing holes in a air filter? Are you serious?

You don't want to dust a engine, trust me. I have repaired/replaced so many engines because of fault filters, bad hose clamps on suction lines, holes in steel or rubber lines, etc.

If you guys are risking a $30,000 engine because your too cheap to buy a $100 filter that is just ridiculous.

Ok, thanks for the info . i will be replaceing it, and yea i agree i don't think this filter has ever been cleaned by the looks of it, cleaning it probably wouldn't get it working perfect anyway being that dirty
