Doing burnouts on stock tires.
Does it help?
Yes of course it helps burn atleast 5 seconds.

No it doesn't help it just wastes money.

interresting... I thought 4 sure it would be a 40/60 split... the other way around.... I never saw any good results from burnin the pirellis... so I stopped doing it... <got expensive> lol:dontknow: ....

i always thought it was not good to do burnouts on radials....that it would not really help....oh well...what do i know....im going back to the throttle body wars posts.....

Small burnouts helped my launch. I spin them enough to clean and dry them.

At my track, I am forced to park in the grass. So after a run down the prepped surface, my tires are covered in sand and gravel.

sure I can see chripin them to get em clean/dry... and dry <although, I'd avoid the water trap>.... the question is do you WOT burn them for 5-6 seconds??

Depends on the tire. I've had some that if you burned them for any length of time they actually felt slick. I usually just spin them good while rolling forward, not sitting there doing a burnout in place like with slicks.

ya ive seen minimal results with a burout ... i dont think its worth it

Don't have any results on the Pirellis yet, but on the Vette I have the stock runflats, and lowering the pressure to around 25 helps more than a good burnout. With stockers just a quick spin to clean and dry 'em.

Heating the tires helps, but don't over heat them because that hurts the grip.

Me too.. very minimal results... the compounds in stock/street tires do not heat up very well.... yes.. I will lightly scuff them before a launch just to clean the dust/dirt off them.. but thats about all...

With a street radial tire you do not want to heat them......... turning them over 2-3 times to clean them is one thing ... thats not a burnout. When you heat them the oils come out of the rubber making them slick.

It really depends on the tires you are running. I like to get 300 wear "A" traction and "B" temp ratings. This allows for good traction and also allows the tires to heat up better. Some tires are designed to NOT heat up...these are obviously not going to work.
