So what the hell caused his problem. Im a little gun shy now because Im in the middle of installing a paxton right now on my Q/C with 7# of boost

Alot of things can cause an engine to go boom, luck of the draw is all. But installing a paxton is just increasing those odds.34bud said:

All forced induction modifications carry risk. You are increasing stresses throughout the drive train...it is a roll of the dice...you have to pay to play.
We are learning that step one is forged rods and forged pistons...then play with the boost issues...
The lower the boost the better your chances...but modification for increased performance comes at a price...and that price includes "boom" rebuilds!

I am the one doing the rebuild who made the post and just to clear things up, I am sincerely sorry for being so vague in my post. Listen up, I had a paxton on my personal truck for 15k miles and beat on it alot and it lasted great for 15k long miles and a prior owner who beat it up. This truck I am working on only had the paxton on it for about 2 or 3k miles and the motor was cooked. It all has to do with being safe. Make dam SURE you get a GOOD air/fuel monitor and watch it like a hawk. Make sure you stay south of 13:1 and it should last a while and if you hardly ever beat on it it will probably last forever. The paxton has ZERO effect on engine life if you never put boost to the engine. Hope this clears things up, I didnt mean to scare you.

Do you do all of your own work on your SRT-10? If not, can you recommend anyone in the DFW area that does top-notch work? I don't mind tearing into a few of my vehicles, but I'm not going to do the dirty work on this truck.
Would love to have a Roe or Paxton on mine.

Man I wish I had a good source for you. The ONLY 100% honest shop I know is Simple Quick in Ft. Worth. They guy there's name is Daniel Timmons. He has a guy named Billy that used to work for Bobby Archer(Big Viper Name) and I always let him do any work I am too busy to do myself. I am not too shabby myself depending on what you need done. It all has to do with being smart and taking your time when working on another persons vehicle. Now on ART, I have never heard anything bad about them, but I know they charge too much.
