Driveshaft Hoop?

I'm considering running in a racing class that requires a driveshaft hoop. Since the intent of the hoop is to protect you from sticking a shaft into the ground or truck due to a U-Joint failure, and since I have a 2 piece driveshaft in the QC, I interpret that as two driveshaft hoops.

Anyone know of one of these already ready to "bolt in" ? I'm plenty capable of fabbing one (two), but it's back up to 110 or so here in PHX and I don't enjoy welding as much this time of year...:D

Wimp! It's only 108 today! I'm heading to our place in Flag tomorrow AM for the weekend....:ciao:
 
Moe's is supposed to have a nice bolt in hoop

That's all I'm coming up with too... Looks like I'll be firing up the press and welder. :)

I spent last saturday swapping transmissions in my driveway... I'm getting to old for this. Gotta build my shop. :mad:

My wife and child are headed to Payson for the weekend. I'm not. :mad::D

If you fab one up do two and let me know. I did some searching a while back and could not find one for our trucks.:argh: :argh:

Well, after searching and not finding anything that was a bolt in, I fabbed one up yesterday. I used 3" x 3/16" steel. The most restrictive racing spec I could find was 2" x 1/4" and this exceeds that from a cross-section perspective, and, most importantly, I had just enough in my scrap pile to do one! :rock:

These pics were taken with the rear axle drooped - I left more room for over-extension. I designed it to use existing holes in the crossmember.

Since I'm visual and call :needpics: as much as anyone, here they are... Not powder coat here, just some 1200 deg paint, but but I'm all about function! And this is one item I hope to never use...:D

Thank you! If there's interest (and there's a couple already), I'll work up a price for making some sets up. I'd like to have an idea what kind of interest there is as that will affect the price. :D
